Town Among Clubs Linked With Scunthorpe Winger
Monday, 23rd Jan 2017 12:34

Town, Bristol City and Rotherham are reported to be eyeing Scunthorpe midfielder Josh Morris.

According to HITC Sport, the trio of Championship clubs are all considering making a move for the 25-year-old three-times capped former England U20 international.

Left winger Morris has scored 18 goals - all but one in the league - in 30 starts and three sub appearances so far this season and is the second highest scorer in League One.

Morris, who is 5ft 11in tall, started his career with Blackburn and had spells out on loan with Yeovil, Rotherham, Carlisle and Fleetwood while with the Ewood Park club.

The Preston-born wideman, who can also play at full-back or in central midfield, joined Bradford on a permanent basis in July 2015 before moving on to the Iron, who are currently second in League One, last summer.

Morris was named the League One Player of the Month in August and September.

if we can't beat off that competition then it's time to give up!

Yes please.
If this was to come off, what would there be to moan about it?
I'm sure there'll be plenty of negative comments though.

That's the kind of signing I'd like to see. Good goals and assists record this season too.

Never seen him play, however, have heard very good things about him. No idea about accuracy of rumours from HITC sport...

Would be a great signing. Unfortunately, I can't see us being able to afford him, sadly. He'll probably cost way over £3m in the inflated market of today.

You joke about beating off the likes of Bristol City and Rotherham but, didn't we lose out on a player to Bristol because they offered him a higher wage in the past couple of windows?

Would be a great signing, but obviously going to cost some bob which will probably sadly rule us out!!
Also, with Scunny gunning for promotion, will he want to stay there and fight for that, or come to a club with no ambition and no forward direction?

I too see this as a positive signing but have we got enough time now to bed the new players in before we are staring down the barrel of relegation.
Trust me guys, I am soooo trying to be positive so please prove me wrong!

Sounds like the type of player I would like to see at our club. We can't compete with most Championship clubs in terms of transfer fees (sorry, but it's true). We have to hope we can find talented young players from the lower leagues and develop them into better players. I have no problem with our transfer window signings so far providing we have the management and coaching staff capable of making them better players - whether we have is a very different question. If we do then we have a chance.

What a signing this would be, surely we can't be the only 3 teams interested? Time to get out the cheque book out as I can't see Scunthorpe willing to sell cheap

18 goals? 30 starts? Sign him

Exactly the sort of player we should be going for, we're far better going for the best players in league 1 or 2 than getting Premiership/championship players no one else wants. Expect he would cost a decent 7 figure sum having bagged 18 goals this season!

Scunthorpe will want more than 10 grand for him so we'll be out of the running here ..... we'll probably end up with someone from Stirling Albion

No doubt if he did sign, MM would soon suffocate the flair out of him just like Ward.

A goal scoring winger who assists .... we'll soon coach that out of you lad get you covering the defence first turn you into a proper bloke pro .Look at what MM has done to Anderson , Sears and now Ward

I think we could get him for around 1 and half. Scunny don't exactly have much money and other than him and Madden lack quality. Be delighted if he signed.

....a better player to be linked with .....just really sad though that a club or our (previous) status is now consistently looking at players 2 divination and below.

...it is however much better than loans and journey men

Well surely if we have 4x1 million bids out and been turned down its time to have 2x2 million bids maybe we can get hungry ambitous lower league players to kick some butt in our changing room

Is he really going to want to come here, probably end up with a 6 month loan player of 36. Has Douglas got any mates without a club.

Sounds quite good but will Mick and Marcus Evans get the deal done will wait and Hope.

He's obviously having a great season, so his club will be able to demand about £3m for him, I have no idea if he's worth it or not, but some Championship club will pay it
