Smith and New Boys in U23s Facing Watford at Portman Road
Monday, 6th Feb 2017 11:44

Tommy Smith and recent signings Kieffer Moore, Danny Rowe and Dominic Samuel are all included in the squad for this evening’s U23s game against Watford at Portman Road (KO 7pm), while Teddy Bishop and Myles Kenlock could also be involved.

Centre-half Smith will be playing his first match as he continues his recovery from the back surgery he underwent in September.

Winger Rowe, signed from Macclesfield, and striker Samuel, on loan from Reading, will be making their first appearances in Town shirts, while fellow frontman Moore, who has played two games from the bench for the senior side having joined from Forest Green Rovers earlier in the transfer window, will be making his U23s debut.

Bishop has played the last two U23s games having overcome his ankle injury and came off the bench late on during Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Reading.

Kenlock is on the way back after the calf injury he suffered at QPR at the start of January.

Entry to the Cobbold Stand is available on the gate at £3 for adults and £1 for concessions with season ticket holders admitted for free.

Good to hear Tommy on his way back! Was looking forward to a smith and webster cb partnership. For now if we are doing 3 at the back I'd have him in for Berra just down to his shakey form as of late.

It's going to be very interesting to see how the back 4/5 shapes up when all are fully fit, even in the absense of Webster there's still 5 cbs looking to fill 2/3 positions. Fingers crossed MM don't revert back to his tried and failed (imo) favoured back line.

for me the back 3 would work far more effectively with Smith instead of Berra. As good a defender as Berra has been for us he is not the best "footballer" so gets caught out too often in a back 3.

Great news that Tommy Smith is on his way back - but the back 5 also needs Kenlock instead of Knudson, so it's good to see him coming back also!

Will also be good to hear how the new boys play ... are they bargain buys or bargain basement !

Yeah Smithy boy is coming back! Can't wait for him to be proper fit & ready.
Good the other 3 signings are all getting a run out. Think all 3 players could give us more fire power when given their chance👍🏻

Kieffer Moore was very good. Big, quick and neat. They couldnt get near him. Could be a real find this boy.

New boys played very, very well, infact everybody to a man gave a hell of a performance albeit against a very young Watford team. Some outstanding performances and goals and MM now has very good selection headache. I just hope the attitude and form of these new boys is not going to falter after a few games. They have a very bright future at the club under a manager that does not subdue their talent. Tonight the ball was played around swiftly on the ground at pace and the opposition were closed down with the same pace. Very refreshing to watch on a a cold night. Only sore point was only ONE centre catering/bar open and many disruntled fans. Another cost cutting venture no doubt!
