Three Changes as Blues Face Barnsley
Saturday, 11th Mar 2017 14:32

Town boss Mick McCarthy has made three changes to his side ahead of today’s game away against his hometown club Barnsley with Emyr Huws back in midfield after his hamstring problem and wing-backs Jordan Spence and Myles Kenlock both returning to the XI.

Grant Ward drops to the bench, as does Tommy Smith - with Jonas Knudsen moving back to the left of the three-man central defence - while Josh Emmanuel misses out on a place in the 18.

Marley Watkins, who the Blues made an offer for last summer and manager Mick McCarthy hasn’t ruled out moving for again, starts for the Tykes.

Barnsley: Davies, Yiadom, Jones, Roberts (c), MacDonald, Scowen, James, Hammill, Watkins, Bradshaw, Armstrong. Subs: Townsend, Jackson, Mowatt, Williams, Hedges, Moncur, Kent.

Town: Bialkowski, Chambers (c), Berra, Knudsen, Spence, Skuse, Huws, Diagouraga, Kenlock, McGoldrick, Lawrence. Subs: Gerken, T Smith, Pitman, Bru, Ward, Sears, Moore. Referee: Stephen Martin (Staffordshire).

Defensive set up again!, at least it's more understandable away from home, fancy 3 points today though, which will be welcome to get us to a mid table comfort zone.

Fairly decent looking lineup.... what remains to be seen is of course their "attacking-mindedness" on this lovely day!

Anyways, presenting a quite interesting season statistic -- that for reasons unknown :-) you won't find in any of TWTD's recent weekly preview articles (to my knowledge) during these very torrid times for the Dreaded Dino aka Mick "I set-up to win EVERY time! On my grandmother's grave!" McCarthy -- but ahhh why don't I just rather make it into a QuiZzz Question .... and in true 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' style you get 4 beyond awesome choices of course! So here we go:

Which team have attempted fewer shots in-total (375) than any other Championship side this season???

A) Newcastle

B) Brighton

C) Ipswich

D) Rotherham

...and since this is a genuine hard one, extraordinarily then you are thus allowed to take all the merry time you need before answering. LOL!

It will be a back 7 again just like the Wolves game. The right players going back in but it should be Skuse on the bench, not Ward

Having Skuse in midfield makes Diagouraga a different player. Would much prefer Ward to start.

The answer to the 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' question has been on the BBC fixture preview page for this game for a few hours now...

7 at the back.

That kind of says it all really.

Mzt - pure guess work here, based on tactics and today's line up , I'll go with C

Jimmy P45.I predicted that he would drop Ward when Huws was fit.Think even Cole was saying recently that he didn't consider himself to be an automatic choice, and appreciated that he had competition;but bloody minded Mick doesn't see it this way,and just like with Douglas he insists on putting Skues in regardless of how' Sideways'plays

Perhaps it is me;but McCarthy seems to scapegoat certain players Jonny Parr springs to mind, and currently its Emmanuel who goes out of the 18 ,Ward and Pitman, who is too outspoken for Mick I fear. The Dino is a bit like my wife who is always right and cannot see another point of view lol

What was the point of signing Danny Rowe? If he's not risked in a nothing game when will he play?

Good post Seasider!!!! Looks like the FAVOURITES are still nailed on!, DINO ain't never going to change. One big negative which has started to creep into my mind over the last couple of days is the fact that's it's looking likely based on interviews etc, that he will still be with us next year, and that will beggar believe.
