Town Announce 2017/18 Season Ticket Prices
Friday, 17th Mar 2017 06:30

Town’s season ticket prices for 2017/18 focus on persuading young fans back to Portman Road but adult season ticket holders face a price rise of 1.5 per cent - unless the total of seats sold hits the club’s 12,750 target which would see all season ticket holders receive a five per cent refund.

The Blues have introduced a new under-23s price band which will see a seat in the lower tier of the Sir Bobby Robson or Sir Alf Ramsey Stands cost £230 if bought prior to the early bird deadline of midday on Monday 17th April.

The concession previously available to under-16s will now be available to under-19s, who will be able to buy a lower tier ticket before the early bird date for £125.

The £10 season ticket for under-11s has been scrapped, in part due to abuse with some fans buying tickets “just so they could have a seat in the Family Enclosure or have an empty seat next to them”, but there is a £50 season ticket available to those aged under 12.

Town have launched a new reward scheme as part of that ticket which will see young fans receive £2 in TeamCard points for every match they attend. If they're at all 23 Championship home games, they will get points worth £46.

An adult lower tier season ticket bought prior to the early bird deadline will cost £423 compared with £417 this season, an increase of 1.5 per cent.

However, the Blues will give all season ticket holders a refund of five per cent if the total of season ticket sales - including concessions - reaches 12,750 by Friday 4th August.

Town have increased the age at which fans are entitled to a senior citizens concession from 60 to 65 in line with other clubs.

Those currently paying a senior concessions price for a season ticket but will be 64 or younger on Thursday 10th August will have to switch to an adult ticket but their seat will be subsidised by 50 per cent for the season ahead. The 800 supporters affected by this change will be contacted directly by Town.

Town will be continuing the interest-free 12-month Direct Debit payment scheme, while they have scrapped admin fees for purchasing season tickets at Planet Blue or by post.

The Silver and Gold membership schemes have been revamped and a new Ultimate membership scheme has been introduced.

Town are yet to announce their matchday prices but we understand they’re set to be largely frozen for the most part but as with season tickets with reductions for younger supporters.

We also understand the £2.50 additional charge on tickets purchased on matchdays will be dumped.

If Town are relegated to League One, we understand season ticket prices will remain at the levels above but matchday pricing would be reduced.

Season ticket packs will be posted from Thursday 23rd March before they go on sale from Monday 27th March.

You can see full details of Town’s season ticket pricing for 2017/18 and the new membership schemes on the club site here.

Question you have to ask is do you want to purchase a season ticket and spend the next 9 months moaning about what you are watching....

The 60-65 group contains a huge element of Town's loyal home support. They were coming to Portman Road in the glory days and have attended in their thousands to share in the best times at Portman Road. Their bond with the club will be jettisoned by this move and any remaining loyalty they had is now screwed. A bizarre decision.

Absolutely woeful by the club, what are they doing? This was a perfect opportunity to get fans on side again by lowering prices, it would make for a bigger crowd and better atmosphere and better for the young fan base in the long term. Just lower the prices and get more fans in!!!!

The way the club is run is really poor, its always about the money and fans are always the ones to suffer, completely fed up of this now. Its the same in football generally.

Hope the club realise there will be a dramatic fall in season ticket sales.

With apologies to The Rolling Stones "Hey Hey Evans, get outtta my club!" I am over 60 and didn't renew this season due to the rubbish served up last season. I have been offered the use of several tickets this season from people sick and tired of what they have seen. I have turned down all but two offers and have paid for 2 other games. I've seen Rotherham, Fulham, Derby and Wolves. My record - Seen 4 won 0 Drawn 2 Lost 2 Scored 2 Conceded 7. As with this season, my season ticket money for next season will be put into Premium Bonds. At least I won £50 on them this season!!!!

Being a Commercial Manager for 20 years I'd like to think I know a bit about adding value whilst reducing costs...however it seems I don't according to the commercial geniuses at ITFC!!

If the dim-wits who thought up these ludicrous pricing shifts and increases will in any way, shape or form persuade current ST holders to renew after being subjected to the dire rubbish on the pitch over the past 18 months let alone encourage new blood, then I'm afraid YOU ARE VERY MUCH MISTAKEN.

WAF JOKE OUR CLUB HAS BECOME!

For the past few seasons I've tried very hard to justify the outlay on my season ticket. I always felt they were premium priced, with the product quality diminishing each and every year - certainly not justifying the price hike.

This latest increase - after an abysmal season - takes the Mick. Literally. Offering a discount if a certain number are sold, in my opinion encourages gambling - because that's what it is. A gamble. Almost bully tactics.

It won't work with me. Reluctantly I won't renew. Particularly with no confirmation that MM is leaving.

Whilst Muck is here I will not renew. Simple.

Just a few thoughts;

1.5% increase is only £6 for me so no big deal, but surely the damage done to sales (due purely to the concept of an increase) is likely to wipe out any gain made by the club?

Bringing the concession prices in line with other clubs makes some sense, by why not have a cut-off so fans currently paying concession prices are not punished? I.e. if you turned 60 prior to 1st August 2017 you continue to get the concession price etc. This way you don't lose swathes of 60-64 year olds for the rest of their football supporting lives.

Stopping people from abusing the £10 kids ticket is fair enough, but surely the computerised ticket entry system we have could identify those tickets which are never being used? Revoke tickets on a case by case basis, this just looks like a cynical move designed to increase revenue.

As others have said, seems to me the club are playing with fire here. These changes could backfire spectacularly, I hope they know what they are doing.

Genuinely don't get the thinking behind what the club have done. 16-23 year olds won't go to every game unless the entertainment is outstanding as there are too many other things to spend their money on. So unless the parent pays for the kids ticket it makes no difference, they'll just go to the odd game. The parent has seen a 1.5 hike and is already thoroughly sick of what he sees on the PITCH. They are gambling on there being a solid core of 11-1200 who renew whatever. Think they may get a surprise.

If they are planning a more expansive spending policy on the squad they would have started to say so, as that is the ONLY way to get supporters back. Tinkering with prices won't make a difference. I suspect they are not. So now the question is will MM walk. Without a bigger budget no one in the game will blame him if he does and he will walk into another job. If he goes and the current budget remains, I think we are relegation fodder.

This season should be my 40th year, i'm really unsure whether to renew, don't think i can take the lack of entertainment which is contributed by the lack of investment. I think I'll wait to the last hour to see what is invested over the summer, albeit i'll miss the early bird discount but that's a gamble i am willing to take!

Like most stuff coming out of Portman Road these days this is sad and depressing news.

I think the club s playing a very dangerous game---once people lose the habit of going to football it will be very hard toi get them back.

I suggested 2 tariffs---£25 on the sides and £25 behind the goals, as simple as that.

ITFC-----what is happenning to our club?

Simple solution to the problem, "SACK THE MANAGER", bring in a young replacement (COWLEY), change the system and ENTERTAIn. I for one would be prepared to pay extra based on this, in fact, I would also contribute towards MM's dismissal package!!!!! (Lol)

phillo - They must know for safety reasons, surely it must be idiotic and against some laws not to know? Here is the Q and A for the topic of knowing how many people actually attend a game. The line its never a precise science baffles me, as with a system that reads barcodes means it really is a precise science!

Q: It's clear that many season tickets holders have not been turning up this season and that official attendances (measured by tickets sold) are not a true reflection of the number of people inside the ground. Can you tell us what the real average attendance figure is and how much is that a concern?

A: We do try and keep a record of that, but it is never a precise science.

Attendances have been down and that has been disappointing. We are very aware of that and it has been part of an in-depth internal discussion.

We're making the owner very aware of that and our concern. We are well aware that if we don't provide entertaining football we are likely to lose support. That may hit season ticket sales. Maybe a small increase in price will also have an affect.

The season Ticket rises may well be in line the owners '5 point plan' but wasn't playing entertaining football the Ipswich way in that master plan as well ?

How does playing 7 defensive players in a home game against a team 4th bottom and on a run of 6 straight defeats fit into that ? The ar$e doesn't know what the elbow is doing.

That prices me out of at least one game per season.I'm over 60, below average wage, no season ticket, work 6 days a week, live out of town so save up and get to games when I can.

Not what he club want I suggest.

Evans will have set a target spend per supporter for the club to reach from each of us every season and every game including all the drink and food and merchandise.

To Marcus Evans we're just customers. So it's fair for us to demand a better product.
He's exploiting the old truth that we l;ve the club, through thick and thin. AND IT MAKES ME SEETHE WIT ANGER THAT HE HASN'T GOT THE NERVE TO SPEAK TO US DIRECT.

Like many I have been a season ticket holder for over 30 years. I support the club, the manager and the team. I never boo anybody who wears our shirt. I understand the financial constraints and support the long term aims of developing our own youth team. However, having just turned 60 I was looking forward to having a reduced price ticket for my dotage years. Me and my mate were actually thinking of upgrading to posher seats whilst still paying the same amount of money. However, with this kick in the balls I'm seriously considering giving it a miss for the next 5 years.

What these 'big boy businessmen' who take fans loyalty for granted, need to realise is that many fans loyalty has a breaking point. Take an example- why are Fleetwood town (until recently a non-league side) currently doing so well and have a manager of the calibre of Uwe Rossler? Answer, because lots of Blackpool fans got sick of the Oystons at Blackpool and switched to another local lower level and more honest club that valued their support.
