Town Announce 2017/18 Season Ticket Prices
Friday, 17th Mar 2017 06:30

Town’s season ticket prices for 2017/18 focus on persuading young fans back to Portman Road but adult season ticket holders face a price rise of 1.5 per cent - unless the total of seats sold hits the club’s 12,750 target which would see all season ticket holders receive a five per cent refund.

The Blues have introduced a new under-23s price band which will see a seat in the lower tier of the Sir Bobby Robson or Sir Alf Ramsey Stands cost £230 if bought prior to the early bird deadline of midday on Monday 17th April.

The concession previously available to under-16s will now be available to under-19s, who will be able to buy a lower tier ticket before the early bird date for £125.

The £10 season ticket for under-11s has been scrapped, in part due to abuse with some fans buying tickets “just so they could have a seat in the Family Enclosure or have an empty seat next to them”, but there is a £50 season ticket available to those aged under 12.

Town have launched a new reward scheme as part of that ticket which will see young fans receive £2 in TeamCard points for every match they attend. If they're at all 23 Championship home games, they will get points worth £46.

An adult lower tier season ticket bought prior to the early bird deadline will cost £423 compared with £417 this season, an increase of 1.5 per cent.

However, the Blues will give all season ticket holders a refund of five per cent if the total of season ticket sales - including concessions - reaches 12,750 by Friday 4th August.

Town have increased the age at which fans are entitled to a senior citizens concession from 60 to 65 in line with other clubs.

Those currently paying a senior concessions price for a season ticket but will be 64 or younger on Thursday 10th August will have to switch to an adult ticket but their seat will be subsidised by 50 per cent for the season ahead. The 800 supporters affected by this change will be contacted directly by Town.

Town will be continuing the interest-free 12-month Direct Debit payment scheme, while they have scrapped admin fees for purchasing season tickets at Planet Blue or by post.

The Silver and Gold membership schemes have been revamped and a new Ultimate membership scheme has been introduced.

Town are yet to announce their matchday prices but we understand they’re set to be largely frozen for the most part but as with season tickets with reductions for younger supporters.

We also understand the £2.50 additional charge on tickets purchased on matchdays will be dumped.

If Town are relegated to League One, we understand season ticket prices will remain at the levels above but matchday pricing would be reduced.

Season ticket packs will be posted from Thursday 23rd March before they go on sale from Monday 27th March.

You can see full details of Town’s season ticket pricing for 2017/18 and the new membership schemes on the club site here.

Very poor business strategy. Why would you increase the price of a product people are not happy with???? Most people will pay more if the quality of the product is worth it but sadly our football is not. The oldest saying in marketing is that the hardest customer to get is one that you previously lost. People leave when they are not happy and they don't come back.

'Were aware of falling attendances and the need for more entertaining football, to this end were freezing prices for next season'

This is all they had to do, commonsense.

Thanks for that!!!!Just when I was preparing(along with many others)to make the most of Over 60 concession. How is it that fans can go to Old Trafford for only £80 more per season?(just one example from the Premier League)Even better you get a season ticket at Bayern Munich for £105 with £130 membership fee.We used to be a family club with proud traditions and the ability to entice large crowds. What's happened?Where are the Cobbold Family when we need them?!!!Hopefully one day fairly soon Evans and Milne will take note of what the true supporters feel and take appropriate positive action.Do i hold my breath?!!

......... the Club defies belief - no finer way of saying 'we don't want you, stay away' - and all but the clones - will
do just that.

I echo the sentiments of many on TWTD...

This club needs change at all levels.

I ditched my season ticket last year and won't be renewing. I have been to 8/9 home games, 4 away games and my reasons for getting rid of it(cost, lack of entertainment & boredom) still seem very valid. For what it is worth there was no attempt from the club to persuade me to stay - not sure if that means much but worth noting.

On top of that anyone who thinks that when you have a large number of customers aged 60+(not me by the way) the best way forward is to antagonise them needs to have a long, hard look in the mirror. Madness..

So every one of you thinking about renewing take a backward step and think what your doing. If most of you decide to grow some and refuse to renew the club will have no option but to reconsider their options,if they dont then what a bonus you wont have to suffer that crap again,i did this last season and whilst may have considered returning if MM went now my mind has been made up who evers in charge.
ITFC RIP

Well as part of a group of 4, 3 of whom come within the 60 - 65 bracket and who were swayed to renew last season because of the seniors concession, its gonna take a lot of convincing now to renew again for next season Mr Milne !!!!! (Kicked in the Balls)

McCarthy has lost the players and supporters and now Evans has lost the supporters too by coming out and doing this. This coupled with Berra's statement in todays EADT that fans are a fickle bunch. Well ITFC, I've been supporting you since the 60's, with your comments and actions this season you can all get stuffed!

Such a shame, opportunity for those who make these decisions to show they actually care about the club and fans. Shows how out of touch owner and MD are. Terrible.

Assuming an average season ticket price of £400 and, given the general perception of the management of the club reflected in on the pitch performances, an optimistic target of maybe 12,500 season ticket sales, an overall increase of say 2% would yield an increase in revenue of just £100,000. Thus if 251 season ticket holders decide not to renew that increase would be wiped out unless new customers could be attracted, which even the most optimistic of fans might consider unlikely.

Judging by the mood on here the non renewals are likely to massively exceed 251 and therefore net revenue is inevitably going to be considerably reduced. Seriously does no-one at the club know how to do basic arithmetic?

This, added to the bad will caused by this ill thought out strategy, particularly in relation to the senior supporters, is going to seriously damage the club and its relationship with the supporters.

The whole thing is nothing but a bad joke and when the consequences of this ill conceived policy become apparent heads must surely roll.

In the meantime we supporters that keep the faith will continue dancing to the band on the deck of the Titanic.

MARCUS EVANS IS RUINING THIS ONCE GREAT CLUB!

He has upset in his time the Wimbledon Tennis,Rugby,Athletics,Olympic authorities, and now the fans of the football club he owns.I am not sure how much time he spends in UK ,as understand he is resident in some tax haven for his personal tax affairs and in Eire for his companies.

Mick McCarthy has said he wouldn't want to be walking out to 10 or 12k fans next season.Well if you remain Mick, the Owner has just helped to reduce the fan base by this ill thought out scheme.Milne to be fair is only the spokesman for Evans, and from what he said, and the number of time he mentioned his boss;leads me to think Mr Milne realises it is likely to be a disaster, but Evans pays his wages!

jalapenosteve mentions the 60-65 age group where the largest rise will be.Although there has been some marginal allowances at the top end making the rises retrospective is a PR DISASTER.

For the rest, as Super Jim says, it is not the amount, but the concept of the increase itself when there is also so much dis-satisfaction,which by their utterances the Club fail to acknowledge.

The tinkering with the young end of the spectrum wont make a great deal of difference I fear as there are winners and losers.

I cannot comprehend what Evans strategy is,and unfortunately he hasn't the guts to face the supporters,as most Chairman would, not even at AGM's.

Mickmacs barmy army correctly says little has been spent on the ground in the last ten years. In the South stand we have had new TV screens in Legends, and of course Mr Clegg spent some of Evans money on some pots of paint for the turnstiles! The staff do their best, but I believe the catering is now outsourced;so we have bits of wood instead of spoons, and the plastic cutlery is now so flimsy that it breaks often when tackling a Portman pie!!!

If McCarthy stays then attendances will plummet.Cat says remove the Dino and replace him with the Cowley brothers.I would agree, and also suggest that because they are young, a Director of Football like George Burley should be appointed to allow them to concentrate on coaching which they seem very good at.Better act now before Norwich snap them up?

ps Re the Supporters Club somebody mentioned.Seems it no longer represents the views of the supporters but is simply a social body that organises good events for the club and raises money for Mr Evans.

They should have announced this on April 01st........I doubt anyone will come up with a better joke!!! Gave up my season ticket last season, haven't regretted it, or missed it, this season, and this announcement just reinforces my decision. Looks like Dellwood Avenue will be seeing even more of me!!!!

I am over 65 and get the concession price, my Wife is 64 now, 65 in December. We have been debating whether to renew, this has made the decision for us. Two more season tickets will not be renewed, shame really.

The spiv that owns the club has now succeeded in doing what my wives couldn't do! I am giving up my season ticket and will not return to Portman Rd after the last home game of this season until Evans and McCarthy have gone! Next season would have been my 56th many of which I held a season ticket including a concession for the last 4 seasons after turning 60. As from this coming season I will lose the concession, thank you Mr Evans for rewarding my loyalty! It is not the cost, it is the principal! The football is atrocious, the manager is arrogant and is basically taking the Micky out of the fans. The match experience since Christmas 2014 has been like a punishment, certainly not a pleasure! I love ITFC but enough is enough, it feels like a bereavement, but you have to what you have to do. ITFC loss will be Felixstowe & Walton Utd's gain. I will now wander around to Delwood Avenue, enjoy a sensibly priced couple of pints in their new clubhouse and watch entertaining football and almost certainly lots of goals! Come on you Seasiders!

Regretfully and after more years than I care to remember, I can be added to the "not planning to renew my season ticket" list, unless something changes drastically. The football has for the most part been dull, and I don't feel I have been entertained nor received value for money.
After years of loyal support, at 60 I was expecting to receive the concession benefit. And maybe even a small discount would have been a nice gesture under the new pricing policy. But as for services supplied by banking, insurance Internet, tv and most utilities, there is no reward for loyal customers. However, at least with them I can negotiate terms or choose to switch and receive a better offer.
But I can't switch my allegiance to my home town team.
I won't be taken for a fool and hand over my hard earned cash to a business that has failed to deliver. I actually don't blame Mr. McCarthy or his staff. They have over achieved while having their hands tied behind their backs in terms of (genuinely available?) resources. Has he used players out of position? Has the formation suited the players at his disposal when fit? Has he been unfortunate with injuries? Has his communication with the supporters been fractious? We all have opinions about that: the joy of being a supporter is that sort of discussion.
The one aspect of the new pricing that I do like is the offer of a discount return should a certain number of season ticket sales be achieved. But the numerical target is unrealistic in my opinion and I don't rate the chances of anyone getting 5% back. I suggested something similar years ago, but a better calculation by the club would have been to set a target income level from advance ticket sales, lowered the overall price tariff, and stated that subject to achieving that income level, any excess over that total sum would be returned as a discount across the board. Better 20000 satisfied supporters at half price (also buying programmes, buying food and drink etc), than fewer than 10000.
I fear the club is about to go into financial free fall unless there is a quick rethink. If Government can reassess a central plank of the Budget after a few days, maybe the owner and his mouthpiece can wake up and smell the coffee, and do a U-turn.
But then, that squadron of flying pigs overhead indicates that's rather unlikely.
Whatever happens though, C.O.Y.B.

Should be a concerted effort across all media platforms from fans urging people not to renew , this would force the clubs hands on both cost and management , the fans have the power but alas many will not bother to wield it and stick to complaining posts..and not action that would actually work. ME is taking the piss , he bought town as a vehicle for his other business interests no other reason (the bloke is not a Town fan) he chucked a wad of cash hoping for the PREM and now is not bothered , and for those that say he puts in 6 mil a year..of course he does it,s his business , he would loose a lot more if it goes under ..!! and nobody forced him to buy the club and owners with a lot less money than him put in a lot more to their club,s (Gibson , being a prime example) and we are also well short of the FFP limits of 13 Mil per season allowed.

ME out / MM out

The entertainment on offer this season certainly doesn't warrant a price increase, however the Town are my team, my club, and I'll be renewing for next season.

SMELL THE COFFEE TOWN FANS ! Evans dosnt care a tuppenny sh@t .I stopped going 18 months ago when I decided enough was enough, The club is been strangled by present regime. But as ive said all along, while people pay to go and watch the crap served up by McCarthy,Evans is happy. The 15000 gates of late shows that many others like myself have had enough .Perhaps the remaining supporters that have been happy to follow the Town REGARDLESS,will now realise they are being treated like mugs by the faceless clueless owner, and boycott games .
