Lawrence Out of Wales Squad
Monday, 20th Mar 2017 12:24

Blues loanee Tom Lawrence has withdrawn from the Wales squad facing the Republic of Ireland in a World Cup qualifier at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin on Friday due to a groin injury.

Speaking after Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Cardiff City, manager Mick McCarthy said on-loan Leicester man Lawrence was set to undergo a scan [Town have subsequently reported the injury as a hip problem].

Town top scorer Lawrence, 23, who has previously won five full caps without opening his international goals account, has been replaced in Chris Coleman's squad by Liverpool's Harry Wilson.

The Blues' other two Wales international loanees, Emyr Huws and Jonny Williams, were left out of the original squad.

Huws is suffering from a hamstring problem, while Williams is on the way back from the shoulder injury he suffered in December having suffered a minor hamstring injury on his U23s return a fortnight ago.

Earlier today fellow striker David McGoldrick was ruled out of the Ireland squad for the same game with a knee injury, while youngster Monty Patterson has dropped out of the New Zealand party ahead of their double header with Fiji with a hamstring problem.

Would be just our luck if he'd gone off and made it worse, so not too disappointed to see him withdrawn. Hopefully, the break will help it settle down, as without him we look in an even worse situation.

Oh dear!
Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse!!
We've got more casualties than Holby City & we'll soon be playing in their league.

Are we still playing the Hospital cup this season?
Should be nailed on favourites for that one!!!

So that's Lawrence and McGoldrick out due to injuries.

I am quite pleased they won't be playing. Lawrence has had a niggly ankle for a while and the rest of 2 weeks will be good for them both. Hopefully they will both be fit and raring to go on 1st April although if it is a hamstring problem for Lawrence he could be out for longer.

Struggling for strikers again! Maybe Moore can prove why Mick bought him.

I've never known so many bloody injuries in one team. Makes me wonder if the fitness and training regime needs addressing!

Well hopefully Lawrence and McGoldrick are both minor injuries. If they're long term we're going down.

Already looking at fixtures and thinking where might we get the 2/3 wins we need to stay up and next game at home to Brum is key. Lose that and we are right in the mix for relegation, win it and we are almost clear.

Never mind "how did it come to this" as firstly anyone asking is a blind fool who has paid little attention to developments over past 2 years, and secondly it does not matter now. We need to give them all 2 weeks rest, fix them up, patch them up, whatever it takes to get a decent 11 on the filed a week on Saturday.

No melodrama in saying this, but our Club's future may depend on it. COYB

PS: MM, ME and half the playing squad out in the Summer, or just hit repeat.

good news, not wasting his time with 2nd rate teams?

That's 50% of our full internationals out, only 3 more to go.

No game next weekend will hopefully give them time to recuperate.

Need to see a couple of unenforced changes on April Fools Day,as don't think 'Dave' is up to it;but then neither is Skues;but he will never drop 'Sideways'.Knudsen much better at Left Centre than Left/wing back and Lawrence and Didsy would liven up our dozy midfield

DINO OUT OUT OUT

I'd have thought playing for Wales is more important to him than us. So, this must be a genuine injury. Shame.

...... injuries or not - can you really blame players for not going the extra mile to play for the DINOSAUR.

I've said it before - sometimes the treatment room is the best option. And they all know I'm right - but, of course, would never admit to such.

Our Club is down and OUT - we will be extremely fortunate to avoid relegation.

Who cares about Lawrence playing for Wales!!
All I care about is ITFC & if we are good enough to stay up!!
Then sack the board, manager & get rid of some of the useless players....

Just a thought, with our Battle, (as Dino will call it),, Peterborough in 2013 went down with 54pts.and it looks like high scoring this year !!!
So get your finger out Dino and choose the right team and Tactics for the next two Cup Finals at home, because you will still be here ? Perhaps Evans will arrange another Bonus for you to keep us up this year ???? As YOU SAY you are to good to get the sack

Don't see the problem really.......... we had 1 win in 12 with them playing so what will be the difference.
We spent 10k on Moore and have a Reading reject with a broken toe just for occasions like this.....Happy days

I had a dreadful dream last night. We ended up just slipping into the relegation zone on the last day of the season and MM addressed the TV and declared we were unlucky to not score in the final minute which would have kept us up. Worse to come ME decided to retain MM to get us back up! I'm just hoping this is not a de ja vue. You can't say its boring but I prefer the excitement at the other end of the table.

Not to be pessimistic....but groun injuries take a fair amount of time to recover from. If it is a groin injury, he'll miss the next few games for us. The club has yet to make any statement about how long Huws is out for either....

I've seen us at many away grounds, but not Shrewsbury's new place, nor Chesterfield's :-(
Pull finger not hamstrings, groins or faces!!!
