Berra Wins Cap as Scotland Held By Canada
Wednesday, 22nd Mar 2017 22:44

Town centre-half Christophe Berra played the full 90 minutes as Scotland were held to a 1-1 draw by Canada in a friendly at Easter Road.

Fraser Aird put the visitors in front early on before Steven Naismith equalised for the Scots 11 minutes prior to the break.

Berra, 32, was winning his 35th cap, while former Blues striker Jordan Rhodes made his 14th Scotland appearance as a 61st minute sub.

Gordon Strachan's side are next in action on Sunday when they take on Slovenia in a World Cup qualifier at Hampden Park.

Scotland: McGregor, Anya, Berra, Mulgrew, Wallace (Robertson 46), Burke (Bannan 46), D Fletcher, Cairney (McGinn 75), Naismith (Rhodes 61), Snodgrass, C Martin (Griffiths 61). Unused: Gordon, Robertson, S Fletcher, R Martin, McGinn, Griffiths, Cooper.

Sounds like he had a reasonable game for Scotland.

Maybe so Bontcho ... but against a "Dog & Duck" team mind you! ... just to describe their (international) strength -- or lack of it rather -- using a nifty Terry Butcher term :-) lol

Even though Strachan didn't field his absolute strongest side, take a look at these 'names' in that particular Scottish squad last night.... I.E.. from my perspective simply an embarrassing & dispiriting result even for a 'friendly'!
