Dozzell Wins Cap in England U18s Victory
Wednesday, 22nd Mar 2017 23:30

Midfielder Andre Dozzell played the full 90 minutes and won his seventh England U18s cap as the Young Lions beat Saudi Arabia 2-0 in the first of their three friendlies at the Aspire Sports Village in Doha, Qatar this evening. Fellow Blue Tristan Nydam was an unused sub.

Everton’s Morgan Feeney opened the scoring in the fifth minute and Arsenal’s Edward Nketiah netted a debut goal to seal the win just before the hour.

The squad is next in action against the hosts - who they were initially down to be facing today - on Friday and then again on Monday with Nydam likely to be handed his England U18s debut - and first international appearance at any level - at some stage during those two games.

England U18s: Balcombe (Brentford), James (Chelsea), Tymon (Hull City), Diallo (Manchester City), Feeney (Everton), Tanganga (Tottenham Hotspur) (Bola (Arsenal) 87), Leko (West Bromwich Albion) (Tanner (Manchester United) 77), Embleton (Sunderland) (McGuane (Arsenal) 83), Nketiah (Arsenal) (Hirst (Sheffield Wednesday) 83), Dozzell (Ipswich Town), Nelson (Arsenal) (Shashoua (Tottenham Hotspur) 77). Unused: Turner (Bolton Wanderers), Nydam (Ipswich Town).

@Sir_Bob - Be interested to hear your thoughts if you see either of them in action!

AS usual Andre and Tristan are in good mostly Premiership company, and as RWR says we are unlikely to see him grace the Portman Rd pitch this season as Micks real blokes battle and scrap(as they usually do);but this time it is to retain their Championship status.

If McCarthy is still here next season(God forbid) then not sure if he will give the youngsters a try;but may do if we are in a lower tier

Well done boys, keep up the good progress you never know when you come home you'll be loaned out to a non league side!!!! I would love to see these two have a team built around them as they develop and help us get into the Premier League but alas it won't happen. If they do make the Premier League it will be with some other team(s) who will come in for them in the summer, get them for some ludicrous small amount and make proper players out of them.
