Bru's Mauritius Make Early Africa Cup of Nations Exit Tuesday, 28th Mar 2017 15:37 Midfielder Kevin Bru skippered as Mauritius exited the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations at the preliminary round stage after losing 3-1 on aggregate to Comoros, the home game of their two-legged tie having ended 1-1 this afternoon. Mauritius were looking to overhaul the visitors’ two-goal lead from Friday’s first leg in Mitsamiouli but went further behind in the 14th minute of this afternoon’s match in Belle Vue when El Fardou Ben Nabouhane netted for the visitors. Les Dodos pulled a goal back in first-half injury time through Walter St Martin with Bru claiming the assist but were unable to make any further impact in a second half in which they were reduced to 10 men with sub Andy Patate seeing red with nine minutes remaining. Comoros now go into the group stage of qualifying where they will face Cameroon, Morocco and Malawi. Bru, 28, was winning his ninth cap for the nation he qualifies for via his parents having previously represented France at U19 level.
