Benyu Nets Twice as Aldershot Win
Saturday, 1st Apr 2017 20:27

On-loan midfielder Kundai Benyu scored both goals as Aldershot Town won 2-0 away against Solihull Moors in the Vanarama National League.

The 19-year-old, whose stint with the Shots was extended to the end of the season earlier in the week with the Blues able to recall him at 24 hours’ notice, netted in the 27th and 61st minutes as his fifth-placed loan club continued their play-off push.

Benyu, who is to be given a new contract by the Blues, has now scored four goals since joining the Hampshire club in December.

Elsewhere, striker Shane McLoughlin made his first senior start for his loan club Bromley as they lost 1-0 away against leaders Lincoln.

Defender Joe Robinson was in the St Albans City team which drew 0-0 away against Hungerford in the National League South.

I know it's non league and we are in a scrap at the bottom. But surely players like him dozzell Josh Emmanuel kenlock etc need to getting more or at least something of a chance.

How can Benyu not be a better option already than Skuse or Douglas?

How far away from our first team is Benyu? After having watched such a poor midfield performance (again) today, it's tempting to think this goalscoring 19 year old would be a better option than the likes of Bru and Douglas.

When we secure safety, surely worth giving this lad a try?

I met this lad in pre-season against Coggeshall. Played really well and a really nice lad. Spent time with my 8 year giving him advice and a bit of a kick about. His giving dozzell a run for his money as his favourite player after that.

How many goals do you reckon Skuse or Douglas would score in that league? I'd honestly be surprised if they got any! Benyu seems to be tearing it up! If he's left to rot on the bench next season behind the likes of Skuse then it's just further madness! Get rid of McCarthy, put Nash in temporary charge while we work out what forward thinking manager can take us forward next season!

Joe Royle would have blooded this lad by now, along with Dozza and the other youngsters. MM hires and plays experienced, average, technically limited players because it suits his style. Be competitive, dull, unimaginative but grind out a result. That worked for us for a while but the direction has to change now, it's clear we are heading towards League One, this or next season. Evans and Mick have both proved they have one way to gain success...that hasn't worked and there's no Plan B. Once/if we are safe play the kids ffs.

See that Mr McCarthy,in his wisdom, has said Benyu isn't coming back, why not ?

Have not read what he has said about it yet;but wouldn't be surprised if Micks mom(not his mum)Dougie gets to play in Skuse' place.Hope the Dino surprises us,and leaves him on the bench;as sure that after that magnificent display he will be around the squad for the visit of the mighty Wigan!
