Benyu Nets Again for Shots
Sunday, 9th Apr 2017 11:05

Midfielder Kundai Benyu scored the fifth goal of his loan spell with Aldershot to see the play-off-chasing Shots to a 1-1 draw at home to Torquay on Saturday.

The 19-year-old curled home a 76th-minute freekick to claim a vital point for Aldershot, who remain fifth in the Vanarama National League.

Elsewhere, Town striker Shane McLoughlin played the full 90 minutes as his loan side Bromley beat Wrexham 4-3 at home, also in the National League, while defender Joe Robinson was in the St Albans City team which drew 1-1 at home to Margate in the National League South.

This is the kind of loan we want - young Town players really shining in the team they're sent to.

Would be the perfect chance to recall him whilst he's on fine form and give him a run around now that we're all but safe.

Oh yeah, Mick and Benyu had a falling out once, so we'll never see him in a Town shirt under his management

Mick McCarthy said we would play the youngsters when safe from relegation, and with 5 games to go I can't see Blackburn making up 9 points on us given they haven't won any of their last 7 fixtures.

Why not recall Benyu and put him on the bench for Friday ready for second half run out? Surely we can find room for him ahead of Bru who hardly ever makes any impact?

My comments may well be "internet s@*t" but remember point 1 of the owner's plan is: 'To provide a significant ongoing financial commitment to the club's academy, enabling a steady flow of players into the first-team.'

Re a recall, MM said a week or so ago Benyu would probably benefit more from staying part of Aldershot's play-off push at present than coming back here at the moment. If they falter then he may well come back at that point: https://t.co/pmlZ12WRIk

I would guess the player would want to see the job through at Aldershot as well having come so far with them.

McCarthy started playing Dozzell, Kenlock and Emmanuel back end of last season when we couldn't mathematically get in the play-offs, thereafter Dozzell was almost forgotten about bar a few substitutions and Emmanuel and Kenlock have only played more regularly the last couple of months. Fielding the 'youngsters' is purely an exercise for MM when the real nitty gritty starts again next season you know what faces will be starting (if some are still here and Mick come to that).

Am I right in thinking this is his second from a free kick now? We could use that in the team. I know there's a big difference between non league and cutting it in the championship, but he really looks like a player we could use In the centre of the park.

Another annoying part of McCarthy, the failure to play our youth. It's a shame that that we have seen little of Dozzell & Morris has yet to feature .For a club who has won 3 FA youth cups it's so frustrating

I'd get him back. No worse than the current crop of players. Nothing to play for so little point starting those who won't be here next season. Even Lawrence now - he will be in holiday mode (that's not a criticism - without him we'd be relegated). Play our lads or at least have him part of the match day squad.

Live up in Cheshire and know for a fact that McCarthey has been in touch wither the manager of Macclesfield Town regarding how impressed he is with Danny Rowe Since he's been at Portman road ( Jan transfer window ) . I know he was initially slightly injured but why have we not seen more of him ? He's good ( MM opinion and he will be with us next season ) so surely that would make sense . Oh there is the problem .........IT MAKES SENSE, not something we can accuse the current manager of ever making

I'm sure that after Saturday MM was thinking that if he'd played more defensive he'd got another draw. But that's his problem and as long as he stays he'll never give youth a chance. I recall that Dozzy was MoM some months ago but hasn't been seen since. Rowe should've had some time by now as should have Morris etc.
We need new manager new ideas fresh start and then the fans will support.

Keep up the good work, I think next season will be his breakthrough!
