Monday, 10th Apr 2017 16:30

Teddy Bishop and Danny Rowe were on target as Town’s U23s beat Millwall 2-1 at Dartford’s Princes Park this afternoon.

Bishop and Rowe netted within two minutes of one another early on to put the Blues 2-0 up at half-time before Noel Leighton pulled a goal back soon after the break for the Lions.

Gerard Nash’s side have only one more game left to play, against Coventry City at Playford Road a fortnight today.

U23s: Crowe, Emmanuel, Digby, C Smith (c), Nydam, Rowe, Bishop, Dozzell, Williams, Samuel, Moore. Subs: Hayes, Webber, Downes, Blanchfield, Morris.

Give both a game in remaining dead rubbers. Loans who won't be here next season are pointless.

Surely there has to be some phasing in of these young players over the next few weeks. See how many are genuinely up to the rigors of the Championship.

At least Nash knows all the players and may give youngsters a chance

I had a dream that Kieron Dyer got made the boss and built an exciting your side. Then I awoke to see Mick McCarthy on a paddy power meme doing that stupid smile meme thing. Out of interest who would people want to see take charge? I'd like Hermann to be given a shot as always liked him and see him as a proper leader.

Would love to see them move through the youth coaches and given them a shot. People who know the place and the players and have a vested interest in not only the first team but the club as a whole

Owain.. would like to see tarrico given his first chance as a manager. although he's coaching european teams under Poyet I think we could tempt him with the job of main man!! As much as I would like true blues like holland or dyer etc... I think we still need someone with some experience as well..

Depending on results,it could be that Mr McCarthy decides that he cannot give any of the fringe players game time this season, in contravention of one of the points in Mr Evans plan of bringing through our own players.NOT ONE PLAYER HAS BEEN BROUGHT THROUGH IN HIS ENTIRE TENURE TO PLAY REGULARLY IN THE FIRST TEAM!

Others like Jonny Williams have also been excluded, even when fit. Some suggest this may be to do with money;but surely this would have been factored in when the loan was agreed with Palace.

This club is sleepwalking at the moment, and if McCarthy goes, which I hope he does soon;I feel that, personnel wise, he has left it in no better state than Paul Jewell, and Keano before him.

I have absolutely no evidence to back this up but I don't think anyone could do a worse job than McCarthy right now. Not just in terms of results but team selection, tactics and generally annoying the vast majority of the paying and non paying supporters.
I'm not sure there is a decent manager out there who could be tempted to Portman Road at the moment under the current ownership and budget constraints that McCarthy seems to have had imposed on him.
That being the case I would suggest someone from inside the club being "promoted" into the position, someone like Gerard Nash who from what I have seen gets his teams to play decent attacking football. I believe the supporters would get behind him and give him time to develop his ideas and he may even surprise a few people like Craig Shakespeare has done at Leicester.
Nash clearly has a knowledge of the club and the players at all levels and would probably jump at the chance.
For me another season of McCarthy/Scuse/Douglas doesn't bear thinking about.
