Huws Hoping to Stay With Town
Monday, 17th Apr 2017 19:50

Loan midfielder Emyr Huws says he hopes he’ll still be with the Blues next season. Huws, 23, who is on loan from Cardiff City, scored his third goal of his loan spell as the Blues beat Newcastle United 3-1 at Portman Road this afternoon.

"I love the boys, and they've made me feel really welcome," the Wales international told Ipswich Player HD.

"The staff, the place, everything. I'm really enjoying being at the club. I don't know what will happen at the end of the season yet and I'm just taking each day as it comes, but hopefully I can be playing here next season if things work out.

"I am quite happy with my goal today. I can't really remember it too well because it was just instinct.

"In the first half we stifled them, then in the second we imposed our game more and we deserved to win the game.

"The support was immense today as well, so I'm glad I managed to get a goal down that end.”

Huws has two years left on his Bluebirds contract having signed for them last summer, but had made only two starts and two sub appearances prior to his move to the Blues in January.

Huws has been excellent and made such a difference, as we had been lacking a forward-thinking central midfielder up to when he joined. He has shown he can score goals too. Sign him up!

Not a world beater by any means but he's an attack minded midfielder with an eye for goal so would certainly be a good start in sorting out our dire midfield

Decent
in teh right set up will do well, Think he could go missing in games when we struggle and have to defend a lot but overall impressive

A goal scoring midfielder that we own?

Let's hope so but do feel we will need either another attacking play maker and possible better, but that would require spending money!

Good test for Marcus Evans. Can he do the deal? If not, we may as well give up.

Yes, No.1 Priority, and not wanted at Cardiff.
Just think what he could be under a forward thinking manager :-)

Been a brilliant addition. Added positivity and goals to a bland, uncreative midfield. Really nice to hear a player declare how he wants to be here. A no brainer to sign permanently.

Huws-Man of the Match? In front of Rafa with Mike Ashley unwilling to spend-Huws could end up at Newcastle for very little money but a salary ITFC couldn't match-excuse the pun.

I hope he stays. Huws has been fantastic for us. Carry on what you're doing and if Huws goes back, we wish him the best of luck. Cracking goal too. UP THE TOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would be an excellent addition to the squad - showed real intent and skill yesterday. Good work rate and a tough character.

Get him in.

He's certainly talented and also wins alot of balls in the air. Superb left foot volley off Pitmans dinked cross yesterday. My only cincern is he needs to close down opponents quicker in some games - eg at Fulham. Lawrence is brilliant at that.

Would love us to sign him & clearly he want to be playing regularly somewhere. However, lots of uncertainty. Warnock clearly doesn't fancy him so if he stays at Cardiff, Huws could be moved on. But with 2 years left on his contract, I'm sure Cardiff would want a fee (hello Mr Evans). Huws will also probably be on higher wages than what we might offer. And, as he has advertised his credentials, better funded clubs will be interested. No more than a 15% chance, I reckon.

Quite right rfretwell - our midfield wasn't competitive at Craven Cottage in the first half & Huws was anonymous. Didn't get in the game at Norwich much either. Good going forward & when we have plenty of the ball, though.

Would be a great addition to our team. Good player and gives good balance to the midfield with Ward and Skuse. Obviously gets on with the players.

I think Bishop would be a good option in the midfield trio along side Skuse and Huws. Ward has really come on in the second part of the season and I think he has nailed a central midfield spot, he has been impressive in there.

With Hyam due back next season and Bish hopefully over his injuries I think Huws would be enough bolster our midfield next season. Benyu is coming through in that position also.
I dont think Diagouraga will be kept, he did a good job when required but other options will be available.

Sign him up , and if we are really serious try for Lawrence as well , who along with Bart has saved Town this season . Hate to say it but cant see Bishop or Hyam being permanent first team after awful injuries .

It's obvious to me that MM and Evans signing Huws and Lawrence and tying Bart down for as long as the rules allow would be a massive boost for us supporters signifying, at last, a true desire to compete next season.Sign them BOTH.
Proud of the team and the support yesterday, and it's a result we should build on.

Talking to some of the Cardiff people when we were down there the other week they will be sorry to lose him. He took a pay cut to play for Town think he will be a good addition.

Hope your right Ferguson but think Lawrence might be too expensive & get offered more wages elsewhere. We can but hope though!!

COYB!
