U23s Face Coventry in Final Game
Monday, 24th Apr 2017 11:52

Adam McDonnell, Michael Crowe and Ben Morris will be in a young U23s side facing Coventry City in their final game of the season at Portman Road this evening (KO 7pm).

No senior players will be in Gerard Nash’s squad as they look to end their campaign by recording successive victories, having beaten Millwall 2-1 away in their last outing.

The young Blues are currently sixth in the Professional Development League Two South table but could climb above the Sky Blues if they beat them this evening, although the Midlanders still have a game to play following this evening’s match.

Seems that McDonnell wont get his annual game for the senior team this year.

McDonnell is a good prospect but seems to have fallen down the pecking order of young midfielders we have coming through.
Unfortunately its looking like his prospects of first team action are fading with Nydam, Benyu, Bish, Ward, Dozzell, all ahead of him at this stage. As MM was saying last we have a lot of midfielders coming through the academy and I think unfortunately McDonnell may need to move to get regular first team action.

Best of luck in U-23s Adam, could be a good chance to force yourself in to contention for the last few senior games of the season

Whatever happened to McDonnell? When he first signed MM was very excited about him. Also there was another story on here stating that the senior players were also impressed by him. I seem to remember someone on here bumped into jay tabb at a train station who also thought he was a real find.

Was he just overhyped? Or are our dynami midfield players like skuse and Douglas simply far far better.

Don't understand why some of the players who don't play regularly for the first team ,rarely get a run out at this level either;but there are a lot of things I do not understand with this Manager.

Although I live some 30 miles from Portman Rd,I used to go to several of these matches.Unlike some on here who have not renewed their season tickets,I have;but refuse to go to any of these matches because of the above, and McCarthy.
Dont know whether the attendances are down for these matches now,as there used to be several hundred on some occasions in the past when the games were at Portman RD.
