Drogheda Date Set

Drogheda United have confirmed that their pre-season friendly against the Blues will take place at United Park on Saturday 8th July (KO 2pm).

The game will be Town’s first of their pre-season programme, which will include the now-annual week training at the Carton House Hotel in Co Kildare. Unlike in previous seasons the Blues won’t be playing Shelbourne.

Former Colchester United midfielder Mark Kinsella is currently first-team coach at Drogheda, who are seventh in the Airtricity Premier League (top flight).

Town boss Mick McCarthy revealed on Friday that games against Colchester and Southend will also be among this summer’s friendlies.

I think at this stage the club could change things a bit, although Carton House is a fine venue for pre season we have been there every year under the dictatorship that is Mccarthy and as this season showed things like the boss are stale, we need freshening up and I'm dissapointed to see no change in pre season regime

What's the betting AFC Sudbury will be played again? Saying that, most entertaining game of the entire year last season.

Time for a real shake up. A different location for the squad during pre season, a totally different set of pre season friendlies, and a prestigious home friendly against quality opposition, that would at least get a little bit of a buzz about the place.
The Manager is getting lazy, the squad and supporters bored, even before a new season has started. Oh how we need some upward impetus.
