The TWTD Questionnaire 2016/17
Tuesday, 16th May 2017 12:02

As the dust starts to settle on the 2016/17 season, it’s time for this year's TWTD Questionnaire, the chance for you to look back in judgement on Town's campaign.

The results of the TWTD Questionnaire will be made available once TWTD's supercomputer, the Osborne 1.0, has finished the processing later in the summer.

It's quite long, so leave the odd question out if you can't decide on an answer, it doesn't apply to you, you're getting a bit bored or are starting to feel tired. All answers will be treated in the strictest confidence.

The TWTD Questionnaire has been run every summer for more than 20 years and is the biggest annual survey carried out amongst Town supporters with 2,334 fans responding last year. All the relevant people are made aware of the results.

tallguy & Midas - very well said, I'm very much of the same opinions. Everyone is entitled to choose what they do next season, whether to PUT UP or SHUT UP, but if it's the latter then there's no point coming on here or anywhere else moaning when things remain the same.

Think it will be more of the case of "Monkeys see, Monkeys do!! Lol

Would it be crazy to throw John McGreals name into the hat for next manager?

Cheers Cat. After our worst finish in 58 years we're entitled to feel peeved! I thought the good times would return when Evans first took over but things are sadly getting progressively worse. It almost feels like he's systematically strangling the club to death!
My best mate is a Man Utd fan and he keeps asking me if Evans is a Norwich fan in disguise! And when he ask me he isn't even joking! He tells me that to an outsider Evans appears like a Canary trojan horse!
If Evans really cared he'd dig deeper into his pockets and get us some better players and he'd of got ride of Mick long ago! The fact that he's done neither and let us sink to our worst position in 58 years is clear evidence that he isn't bothered!
I went to the Stevenage game and we were so bad! Any owner with any passion for their team would step in and do what needs to be done. But he'll continue to hide in the shadows being the invisible man he is. We'll be lucky if he extends us as much as 1 or 2 written statements a season and sadly they always prove pretty meaningless. Quite simply, he needs to put up or sell up! After our worst finish in 58 years it's time for him to prove he's serious about getting thing back on track, but I'm just not holding my breath as my confidence in Mr PLC is rock bottom!
We're about 3rd bottom for wages and transfers in this league, yet I'm sure he's not the 3rd poorest owner in this league. We know he isn't. The difference between a lot of the other owners of the other teams in this league is they are far more financially and emotionally committed to their teams. Gibson from Boro has around 1/5 of the finances of Evans but 500% more passion, and that passion makes all the difference!
Evans is like the lion from the Wizard of Oz as he's without a heart when it comes to Ipswich!

Thank you Suffolk n Good, as you can tell I've pretty much had enough of ITFC PLC! It's a terrible state of affairs watching our sorry demise under ME & MM. :-(

Have posted at length about the demise ITFC in article about Trust, majoring on Evans;so wont repeat here.Suffice to say that the sentiments on here mirrored the concerns I raised.

I agree there is little we can do at present, especially as it s the close season. Its a bit like being on the Titanic, the deck chairs are being re-arranged whilst the ship sails towards the iceburg.

Lets hope our beloved Town does not suffer the same fate, and sinks into the lower divisions!

Am a London based fan and went to every home/away game last season. Will be interesting to do.

We reported that season ticket numbers had dropped to below 10,000 and that that equated a loss of around £1 million a fortnight ago, and put the drop to Ian Milne on Life's a Pitch.

Re some of those questions you suggest, they're a bit vague for this sort of survey, "How do you feel about Marcus Evans' 'five-point plan'?", for example. We're not really after discursive comment of the type that questions such as that would generate (story comments and the forum generate enough of that anyway), more easily processed, graded answers.

Difficult to know where to start with that. Questionnaire is basically the same we've run for 20-odd years and there are no 'PR releases' from Town of the type you suggest. Club doesn't put us or anyone else under any pressure re content (and actually has a thicker skin re criticism than is sometimes perceived to be the case).

Posters with negative views are not removed (to be honest if they were we'd be struggling for posters this season) and rather resent the suggestion that we would do that, the news side of the site has deliberately never included an editorial slant, but I give my personal views on the forum, on Life's a Pitch and in my Colchester Gazette column.

@ Phil TWTD

Well fairly sorry to hear that actually , as basically I certainly don't find them missing or suggested as future inclusions TWTD Questionnaire questions of mine to be either directly "vaguish" or particularly "discursive" but rather EXTREMELY PIVOTAL -- in some form (as in not necessarily the one I picked)! -- to the current mess-like situation and overwhelming fan apathy all-embracing the club!!! .... and so I gather neither did a notable lot of other TWTD members I see (giving their own comments not simply my up-votes) and apparently nor did EADT btw , not that I generally happens to be a biiiig or unconditional fan of how they GENERALLY cover Ipswich Town mind you! who included pretty much most if not all of them in their 'Survey' as opposed to your 'Questionnaire'.

I thus personally truly believe it all (i.e. possible vaguishness and broader discursiveness best suited elsewhere) vastly depends on how one chose to present & phrase the selectable answers! In the example of "How do you feel about Marcus Evans' 'five-point plan'?" the only 2 selectable answers on EADT for instance were: 1) "It makes sense" or 2) "It's nonsense" which in my humble opinion covers it alright WITHOUT it turning into something akin to what your quote "story comments and the forum generate enough of anyway" ... which I cannot help in agreeing there indeed is :-) .... but sincerely many thanx Phil & Co. for just taking the time to reply not only to my own but also other members 'quizzing' inputs on this page & and this TWTD questionnaire.

Sorry, I hadn't realised the question cited had been used elsewhere in that manner. I'd argue that that approach is a bit simplistic for a question phrased like that, to be honest, and the answers a touch leading; there's plenty of ground between agreeing with the five-point plan wholesale and thinking it's nonsense.

A better approach would be along the lines of whether the user agrees with it to a greater or lesser extent - strongly agree, agree etc.

Perhaps it was an oversight on my part not to include it and I probably would have done had it been announced more recently. I am always conscious of not making it too much longer than it already is while covering a lot of ground.

Fair enough....and thanx for the elaboration. Additionally I also can subscribe to the "better approach" you suggested.

Where did someone get the idea that TWTD removes negative posts? Perhaps you've had a post removed because it was libellous or just used excessively bad language. I don't believe TWTD removes negative posts - that would be a bit suicidal because at the moment there wouldn't be much left!
