Open Day Date Set
Thursday, 18th May 2017 20:52

Town have announced that their annual Open Day will take place on Thursday 27th July at Portman Road (free entry, gates open 9.30am, ends 2pm).

The event, which was attended by more than 4,000 fans last year, will see the first-team squad and coaching staff take part in a signing session prior to a training session on the main pitch.

There will also be activities and attractions on the FieldTurf behind the East of England Co-operative Stand.

Sounds like jolly fun.

The last time I went to one of these I had my picture taken with the FA cup. That picture is in my mums front room to this day.

On the day the Cobbold family walked around making conversation with supporters and there was an atmosphere of contentment and anticipation.

Terry Butcher and today's hero, Russell Osman were just breaking through into the team from the youth team as was Alan Brazil, and although I don't think we new it at the time, Muhren, and slightly later in the season Thijssen signed and took us to a whole new level.

Fast forward 39 years, and we got knocked out of the cup by a non league team, and there's about as much chance of ME showing up to this as there is of us ever winning the cup again.

I feel sorry for the young supporters of today who are left with the shameful wreckage of 10 years of the current regime.

Mr Milne, you get a new generation of supporters by treating people with respect and having a great product to offer, not by playing smoke and mirrors with season ticket prices.

Those were indeed the days.

Let's hope all the players are available to get signings unlike last year but good day out gets you in the mood for the season

Well said NBVJohn 👏

I'm surprised Milne & Evans haven't insisted this be a 'Category A' event...

They've surely missed an opportunity here to charge everyone £42 per head for the pleasure of watching 'Mick The Coaching Maestro' insist the players launch the ball at the same trajectory as one of Kim Jong Un's wayward rockets 😂😂😂😂😂

Great news! This was a great event last year - the children really enjoyed meeting their ITFC heroes, and it's important to engage the next generation of fans.

My young son still talks about how he met Daryl Murphy at the event last year and got a picture with him!

Although being so young, he had no concept of the transfer system and I had to try and explain this to him when we sold our beloved number 9 about a month later!

NBVJohn.

How true. Cpt Cobbold made Ipswich Town Football Club, and passed the baton on. Importantly Mr John and Mr Patrick .were proper owners, who loved the club, and really related to us. as you say.
Odds on Evans won't be at this event. I hope he does turn up so he can get a sense of what he's throwing away and make a choice between investing in a better future for the club or leaving us feeding on scraps and fighting a losing battle .

Average day, attended last year with 6 and 9 year old, you have to Q for ages to see only one table of players, easier to hang about after match, see the whole lot within half an hour of finish, sign and as many pics as you want......
