New PDP Centre in Haverhill
Friday, 21st Jul 2017 17:02

Town are to open a new invite-only Player Development Programme (PDP) centre for boys aged U7 to U12 in Haverhill at the New Croft, with free open trials taking place on Monday 14th August.

The trials, ahead of the new term in September, for boys including goalkeepers in school years two, three and four - U7/8/9s - will start at 6pm (arrive for 5.30pm), while trials for those in years five, six and seven - U10/11/12s - will start at 7pm (arrive for 6.30pm). Screw-in or moulded studs only, no blades or trainers.

To register for the trials email richard.boreham@itfc.co.uk titled ‘Haverhill trial’, stating the player’s full name, his date of birth, school year for September 2017 and whether he is a goalkeeper or an outfield player, as well as parental contact details.

Further information on the PDPs, which were launched across venues in Suffolk and Essex last summer, can be found here.

Hmmm more money spinning taking hundreds of pounds per season from literally hundreds of parents based on false promises.
I have witnessed staff handing out trial flyers like confetti rather actually trying to select or recruit 'good' players.
What happened to good old fashioned scouting and recruitment???

In all fairness all the professional clubs are very similar. From Chelsea to Colchester Utd. It's a marketing scheme along with recruiting on the law of averages. The more they get the more money coming like you said, along with the greater chance of recruiting any talent that may have paid the money

Have I missed something? Doesn't the article say "free trials"?

Yes it does, but some people just have to moan about absolutely everything

The trials are free but if successful then the coaching is not. Which is understandable-you'd expect itfc youth coaches to be better trained than the average junior team coach. But they're not cheap. They are however cheaper than the scum sessions that they have set up in Cambridgeshire and I've been urging town for ages to set one up here
