Town chairman David Sheepshanks says that despite contacting Inter Milan regarding extending the loan of Sixto Peralta for another season, the Blues are yet to hear anything. Reports yesterday claimed that the deal was almost done, however this seems to be a long way from the case.

The Town chairman says that any deal for Peralta is very much dependent on any sales between now and the beginning of pre-season. Sheepshanks revealed that he thinks Town need to find buyers for two of the squad: "We have spoken to Inter Milan but have not heard back. He will not be starting pre-season training with us tomorrow.

"First and foremost we have got to get the finances right and the situation with Peralta will depend on that. The economy of football is now very tight and we know we have to sell two players.

"Right now we have two objectives. Firstly to get the finances right after relegation and secondly to out together a squad capable of returning to the top flight in the new season."

That suggests that, with the Titus Bramble move to Newcastle as yet unconfirmed by the club, Town will be making just one more high-profile sale during the summer.

Town's financial position has been strengthened by qualification for the UEFA Cup and the club's seeding in both the qualification and first rounds.

It now seems likely that Town could get TV income from at least two rounds of the competition proper, while the TXU Energi sponsorship deal will also increase due to Town's qualification for European competition.
