Collins Set for Villa
Thursday, 20th Sep 2018 19:21

Aston Villa have emerged as the club former Town trialist James Collins is likely to join.

Earlier today Blues manager Paul Hurst confirmed that the 35-year-old wouldn’t be returning to Town with whom he spent time training until he suffered a hamstring injury.

Stoke had appeared to be his destination, the Welshman having revealed he had spoken to the Potters at the weekend, however, according to The Telegraph, Collins has been invited to train with Villa once he has has returned to fitness with a view to a short-term deal.

The former Wales international was previously with Villa between 2009 and 2012.

They are probably paying him more than the minimum wage he was offered here

Bring Wolf back. Give him some games players like Wark, Butcher, Mills all made senior appearances when young. Why keep sending out our youngsters for other clubs to benefit from then sign other clubs has been on high wages.

An injury prone 35 year old who wanted high wages? Dodged a bullet there, I think. We have Chambers, Toto & Pennington, while Knudsen can play centre back (I won't mention Spence). We also already have a 30 man first team squad!

Getting Woolfenden back would work if need be and swap Spence for Josh Emmanuel now.
