Nsiala Back for Blues Against Bolton
Saturday, 22nd Sep 2018 14:37

Toto Nsiala returns to the starting line-up for this afternoon’s home game against Bolton Wanderers following his three-match ban for his red card at Sheffield Wednesday.

The former Shrewsbury man is set to start at the centre of the defence alongside skipper Luke Chambers with Matthew Pennington moving to right-back and Janoi Donacien dropping out, the only change to the team which started the second half against Brentford on Tuesday.

The St Lucian is again the loanee to miss out on a place in the matchday squad - only five of the six are permitted in the 18 - with former Trotter Jon Walters fit enough to take a place on the bench after his achilles injury.

Bolton make four changes to the team which lost 2-0 at Middlesbrough in midweek with Mark Beevers, David Wheater, Gary O'Neil and Josh Vela dropping out in favour of Marc Wilson, Erhun Oztumer, Will Buckley and Craig Noone.

Town: Gerken, Pennington, Nsiala, Chambers (c), Knudsen, Skuse, Chalobah, Edwards, Ward, Nolan, Jackson. Subs: Bialkowski, Harrison, Spence, Graham, Downes, Edun, Walters.

Bolton: Alnwick (c), Olkowski, Hobbs, Wilson, Grounds, Williams, Lowe, Buckley, Noone, Oztumer, Magennis. Subs: Matthews, Vela, Donaldson, Doidge, O’Neil, Wildschut, Wheater. Referee: Stephen Martin (Staffordshire).

A "must win" ...for a whole variety of reasons. One of them being that despite somehow having scrapped more than twice as many points together than us so far, Bolton imho is genuinely a crappy team, with too many crappy players as well a a starting not very daring setup & XI (Hey those 3 characteristics sounds strangely familiar to an ITFC fan in the Evans era doesn't it??? LOL) the latter as in for instance nifty on-loan Dutch marksman Yannick Wildschut very rarely starting a game, and thus with Ameobi out today and also Buckley not sounding a 100% that leaves really only MaGinnis as someone posing a tough threat & capable of scoring among their starters.

Hmm well then just "double-team" the ex-Charlton man and then bring on an extra defender in the last 15 when Wildschut enters and Voila! we should be looking at our first win of the season at around 16.50 pm, right???

Could be, could be... but naaah! Cause remember our own problems with "wrong personnel" please, imo especially among our defensive players (no need to name their specific names here on TWTD news I think LOL, but as it has been & and once again seems to be today: Some that even our new manager treats as "Undroppable Blokes" despite claiming that no ones place is safe?!), which as a defense has performed too much like the "Keystone Cops" in pivotal spells in just about every game thus far.

Thus with that in mind my most INSINCERE bet is a 3-3 draw! SkuseMe scores his first ever professional hattrick and Bolton gets theirs from 2 avoidable own goals + an excessively stupid penalty! :-D wink wink :-D

This 4 2 3 1 formation relys on your full backs getting forward.. While knudson does get forward somtimes i worry about pennington at right back as i understood he is a center half. Donacian instead of pennington would appear to make more sense to me

Pennington at right back? out of position...remember Mick had Chambers at RB for yonks!
other than that the team looks okay. Best of luck lads!

I like the sound of that team, Nolan needs to run the midfield, there is potential for goals for us in there!
