Boro and Stoke Again Linked With Knudsen
Monday, 21st Jan 2019 14:47

Middlesbrough and Stoke reportedly continue to show interest in Blues left-back Jonas Knudsen, who they previously targeted in the summer.

According to Football Insider, the two clubs are planning to make moves for the Danish international before the January transfer window closes.

In November, the 26-year-old confirmed that there had been “concrete” interest from Boro and the Potters in the summer.

Knudsen is out of contract in the summer and, despite the offer of a new contract from Town, has indicated to the Blues that he would like to look at moving away. Town would prefer to accept a fee now rather than allow him to leave for free in the summer.

Last month, FC Copenhagen and FC Midtjylland in his native Denmark and Fortuna Düsseldorf were linked, while we understand West Brom are also monitoring Knudsen’s situation.

Speaking on Thursday, Blues boss Paul Lambert, who recently signed Callum Elder on loan from Leicester to come in at left-back for Knudsen, said he wasn’t aware that Town had received any offers for the former Esbjerg fB man: “Somebody’s got to come in for you and I’ve not heard anything at all.”

Not one PL wants to lose or leave : unfortunate and inept management will have brought this about !
JK is a very good character ,a family man with all the proper instincts – we should be sad to see him leave and he has done very well at ITFC ,making considerable progress .COYB

based on our left backs performance at Blackburn this is a big loss -
Knudsen wants to leave and you cannot blame - from the world cup to hapless relegation battle in 6 months - guess this was not in his plan

Good luck- lets hope we can get some cash

Think it will be harder to replace Knudsen than many on here think. A really decent left back at championship level.

I take it he hasn't been to or knows to much about stoke or Middlesbrough!! He would have to get a flat cap and whippets. Then join the local working mans club and talk about how the coal mines have been ruined.
Just giving him the heads up!! 👍

Good luck to him where ever he ends up, hes been no better or no worse than the rest of the squad to be fair. Thanks for your goal against the scum. I get sick of all the negative crap on here aimed at some of our players, while they wear the blue and white they always have my support.

Decent, honest, lad; but not by any measure an outstanding C'ship level player. However, the fact that Tony Pullis allegedly rates him, among others, suggests that perhaps there's more about him than we have seen during his time here. True he's certainly progressed, but in my view Kenlock is actually a better all-round LB; in fact always thought JK was better as a central defender.

Whatever - the club's cack-handed management of his contract, and the prospect of a fresh-start at a club that both rates and wants him, probably was always only going to end in one outcome. Hopefully we'll get a reasonable fee for him.

Really not bothered. Just wish it'd hurry up and get sorted . Never known so much phaffing around for a bang average player. But good luck to him nonetheless !

Knudsen had better games for us playing in the centre of defence. I suppose that may not be lost on the likes of Stoke or Middlesbrough.

Wish him well if we can get a few bob. Then put it towards a injury free midfield dynamo

This sounds like agent talk - reigniting the summer interest to make him more attractive for a move.

Might as well get something for him. Been a decent player for us and wish him all the best .

He certainly had his head turned away from us some time back - obvious for all to see, that he thought he was above our current status.

Time will certainly tell, if he goes to either of these. Certainly shown his true colours recently, and they definitely weren't Blue & White..... !!

A complete liability awful at this level and glad to get rid.... We should have loaned Tyrone Mings back.

Let's hope for Jonas sake, and ours, he gets an offer soon, specially after making that statement of intent that he wants out,
On a more serious note I'd like to personally like thank the man for being a major contributor to what's been the ‘worse defence I can ever remember!
FARVEL JONAS!

I think he'll go for no,or a very little, fee to reduce the wage bill. With relegation almost certain, savings have to be made now.

JK has obviously made it clear that he wants to leave and PL has stated in no uncertain terms that he only wants players "that want to be here". I think it's a little disappointing to lose a player who once was a decent player for us. In my opinion this is a repeat of the Webster, Waghorn , McGoldrick and Garner exodus and a reflection of where ITFC were prior to Lamberts arrival. We lost Knudsen as a player when he returned from the World cup to a club in utter turmoil. Or maybe he reads the poison directed at him over the last few months on this site from a few of our "fans"?

He ain't been happy since his farther figure left the club.
If he had any real ability he would have left last summer.
But nobody was prepared to pay the going rate, the going rate for a bang average championship player.
Who more often than not can't defend, cant pass, can't get back into position, etc etc.
A player who has been a weak link in a weak defence for to long.

All very well keep talking wholesale clear outs - but where do the replacements come from other than the Under 23's.... ??
Not one of PL's recruits have hit the ground running, as yet - other than Collins, proves the point.

Most of the Under 23's would need time to step up anyway, which would have to be expected.

Unfortunately many cannot / will not see the bigger picture.

We are DOWN - therefore expect much more change, whatever that entails, between now, and when we kick off in League 1 next season.

........ players like Knudsen are best out of the Club for obvious reasons.

Once selected for theDanish World Cup squad (fringe player only) his head disappeared in the clouds - big mistake Mr Knudsen, that you may well regret as yet ... !!
