Town Announce Squad Numbers
Thursday, 18th Jul 2019 15:51

Town have confirmed their squad numbers for the 2019/20 campaign.

As expected new striker James Norwood has been handed the vacant number 10 shirt, while keeper Tomas Holy, signed on a free transfer from Gillingham, will wear the number one previously owned by Dean Gerken with Bartosz Bialkowski sticking with his 33.

The number three shirt, worn by Jonas Knudsen for the last few seasons, remains unoccupied - as do numbers five and six - with Myles Kenlock staying with 30 and new loan signing Luke Garbutt taking the number 29.

Harry Wright - 29 last season - moves up to 13, while fellow young keeper Adam Przybek, signed after his release by West Brom, will wear 31.

Alan Judge moves up to 18 - vacant following Grant Ward's exit - after wearing 31 last season, while Jack Lankester goes from 36 to 14 and Idris El Mizouni, 42 in 2018/19, switches up to 26.

Luke Woolfenden swaps 32 for 28, while Corrie Ndaba will now be in his old number having been given 47 last season. Elsewhere, it’s as you were from last season.

Bailey Clements is handed back the number 46 which was his at the end of 2017/18, while Armando Dobra has been given a shirt for the first time, the number 36.

We are missing 3 of the traditional back 4 numbers...

Sounds about right.

Definitely the area we need to strengthen, in my opinion. We have a young squad, full of potential. We just need a couple of experienced heads to give the team a solid spine... Oh for a mogga and a veno.

@Mullet- can we play two at once? Might need it with the state of our defence

I would suggest trying to get Tommy Smith back at 5, but we couldn't afford him, even though we gave him away for nothing.

Defence looks very weak. Arguably need three new signings. Up front also lacking as are the wings. Much work still to do in a very short period of time. We are leaving it late to cover very key positions - again. Much the same as previous years. Last season we started the first game with just one available senior CB - let's hope the club learnt from that stupidity.

Shouldn't they change Teddy Bishop's squad number to 111 or 999?

Perhaps it's time to either retire the number6 shirt or permanently allocate it to The Beat.....

Retiring squad numbers is a ridiculous idea.

Garbutt not taking No. 3 suggests he might be used as a winger

Gutless from Lambert. Surely Huws & Judge are starting 11 & build a team around them !

A 35 man squad sounds like quite a lot until you remember that 10 are young unproven players and that others either have long term injuries or are coming back from them. We really do need a centre-back.

Does vacant numbers mean we are serious about signing new defenders?

Insanely young and inexperienced side - it hits home when you look at the squad as a team. Need 2-3 experienced players to hope to contend.

IronFarmer - do your research before spouting negativity...

Judge worn 18 at Brentford where he played his best football - perhaps thats his choosen number??

Huws might like 44?

What a shame we haven't got a proper number five like me, or my legendry predecessor, Jonny Wark.
