Town Face Barnet

Town will field a mixture of first-teamers and reserves in their pre-season friendly at Barnet tonight (KO 7.45pm). The Blues will look to get a third pre-season win against the North Londoners.

It could be Town's last ever trip to Underhill with the Bees desperate to move to another stadium. In order to gain promotion from the Conference clubs must have capacities above 6,000 a condition Underhill doesn't meet.

Their plans for a new stadium opposite Underhill were recently blocked by the local Conservative council while other Conference chairmen blocked a groundshare plan.

Fans are concerned that this could spell the end for Barnet and have formed the KBA (Keep Barnet Alive) who may well be in evidence this evening.

Message Board regular Forensic_Bloo (responsible for the info above) says that The Mitre (up the hill, on the right, just past the police station) is an ideal hostelry for pre-match activities.

Directions from Ipswich: A12, M25 then leave at Junction 23, the A1(M) intersection. Take the first turn off roundabout, the A1081.

Follow A1081 until traffic lights and junction with the A1000. Follow the road to right (Barnet High Street) and continue on, the road veering to the left.

The next lights are by Barnet Church (on the right). Keep on down hill past High Barnet tube station and beyond.

Half way down the hill you can turn off and park in the station car park where away fans are encouraged to leave their cars.

If you continue down the hill you ought to be able to see the ground, on the right, behind the Old Red Lion pub. Turn right before the pub and follow the road round. The streets nearest the ground are coned off, although there is some street parking.

High Barnet is the recommended tube station and is only a few minutes walk away.
