Town won their fourth pre-season game in a row at Brentford's Griffin Park on Wednesday evening. Two goals from Marcus Stewart followed a first half effort from Finidi George.

Early on Town made the running with Jim Magilton going just wide from a Finidi
George cross. Shortly afterwards Matt Holland put a long shot over the bar.

Just before the quarter of an hour mark the Blues went ahead when Finidi George tapped home in a crowded box.

Town were the better side although neither team were creating too many chances.

With nine minutes left of the half Tommy Miller was replaced with Wayne Brown. The ex-Hartlepool man is a doubt for Saturday's match against Celta Vigo after picking up a hip injury.

The second half started quietly but once Marcus Stewart had come on for Darren Bent the Blues took control.

Matt Holland, involved in everything from midfield, hit a shot from the edge of the area in the 66th minute. His effort appeared to be going goalwards, but Marcus Stewart diverted it past the keeper just to make sure.

Holland had earlier gone close when the Brentford keeper had tipped his shot over the bar. At the other end Andy Marshall had a couple of tricky moments with his kicking.

Stewart's second, on 74, involved sub Pablo Couñago and was scored as Concorde swooped across Griffin Park. The Spaniard flicked the ball into the path of Stewart who put it over the keeper and into the net.

With 13 minutes left Matt Richards got his opportunity on the left of midfield replacing Jamie Clapham.

Late on Pablo Couñago had an effort well-saved by Brentford keeper who had stopped Town from scoring a hatful in a fine second half.

Town were always on top against an unimpressive Brentford side. Former Bees Hermann Hreidarsson and Marcus Bent got a decent reception from their old fans, but the stars of the show were Matt Holland and super sub Marcus Stewart.
