An injury time winner from sub Richard Logan saw Town's second string get their home games off to a winning start against Chelsea. Town, made up mainly of U19s and players who have been superseded by U19s came from behind to beat Mick McGiven's side.

The game had hardly settled into any pattern and Chelsea were ahead through Sebastian Kneissl. His 12th minute flick coming after Filipe Oliveira had broken well down the right and crossed where the ball was knocked back for Oliveira. As Chelsea celebrated Matt Bloomfield was booked for an indiscretion earlier in the move.

Town's first serious chance saw Le Pen screw his effort wide. However, in the 19th minute Town were on terms. Richard Naylor scurried away from Valerio Di Cesare on the edge of the Chelsea area but the defender caught him and sent him to ground. Naylor himself took the resulting penalty, but like Marcus Stewart at the weekend saw his kick to the keeper's left saved.

But unlike Ian Walker, Chelsea keeper Lenny Pidgeley failed to gather the loose ball and Nabil Abidallah put the rebound home.

On 25 Ulrich Le Pen suffered his now obligatory injury, this time to his right ankle and was replaced with Richard Logan.

On 31 Naylor was unlucky not to score when he headed a Richards cross against a defender with the keeper seemingly beaten. But a minute later his name was on the scoresheet.

Nabil Abidallah, operating on the left flank since Le Pen's substitution, played in Robinson on the left. The striker hit a shot which keeper Pidgeley saved, but this time it was Naylor on hand to rebound and Town were ahead.

The lead lasted about a minute with the impressive Oliveira once again giving Richards a hard time on the right. He took the ball into the area and hit a shot which Pullen couldn't hold and Kneissl netted for his second of the game.

Both sides had chances before the break, Kneissl coming close to his hat-trick after Huth had seen his header go an inch wide.

The second half was a rather chance-free affair, Chelsea went well wide with a freekick while captain for the night Westlake did well to break into the Chelsea area after exchanging a one-two with Naylor. The energetic midfielder was stopped in his tracks by Huth and was seemingly injured in the challenge, Beevers replacing him five minutes later.

Artun and sub Dickinson made a couple of promising runs late on but the second half failed to produce anything like the entertainment of the first, but with the game appearing to be drifting to a draw Matt Richards twice won the ball wide on the left, played it across to Robinson who pushed to Naylor who teed-up Logan who lashed it into the roof of the net off the keeper to send fans home slightly happier than they had been when they arrived.

Town: Pullen, Okay, Richards, Artun, Hogg, Westlake (Beevers 70), Abidallah (Dickinson 75), Bloomfield, Naylor, Robinson, Le Pen (Logan 25). Att 1,973
