A number of Norwich players have hit out at the late pitch invasion during Sunday's East Anglian derby. After Pablo Couñago's goal several Town fans ran onto the pitch in celebration.

Striker Iwan Roberts felt it was high spirits, although a few things were said to their players: "I think it was just over enthusiasm by a bunch of idiots. We don't need them in the game.

"There is no need for them to come on to the pitch. One or two things were said to our players, but we never reacted in any way, shape or form so all credit to us."

Norwich keeper Robert Green's earlier behaviour towards Town fans was perhaps less than helpful in a tense derby atmosphere. He too condemned fans who ran on the pitch: "It's a sad way for it to end really, they go a bit leary at times, tensions are running high and it means a lot to the people, both Ipswich and Norwich, and there was a big release of tension and it just got silly."

Police made four arrests and ejected three fans from the ground. They hailed their effort, which included police horses from Nottinghamshire, as a success. Town could face a fine from the FA due to the invasion.
