Town manager George Burley praised the commitment of his players during Sunday's 1-0 win against Wimbledon at Selhurst Park. The Blues' boss also felt his side should have had a second half penalty when sub Ambrose was impeded by Peter Hawkins.

Burley said: "I'm delighted with the commitment the players showed because I questioned that in the first half against Stoke. But since then the players have shown the desire and passion to push up the table.

"I thought it was a penalty but the only person who actually matters in the decision is the referee and he didn't give it.

"Darren was right not to go down. We have an honest set of players and he tried to stay on his feet and score but was dragged back."

"In the end justice was done. We dominated for long spells of the game and created numerous chances.

"The players didn't get back until 2.30am on Friday from Yugoslavia but even so they showed plenty of endeavour and commitment and the standard of our play was generally good.

"There have been other games this season when we should have won and didn't, like Derby when we had three or four golden opportunities.

"But we have not stopped believing in ourselves just because the results have not come and we have not changed our playing philosophy."

"We are going to be three or four games behind and all I can do as a manager is work hard with the players.

"They have shown me total commitment and hopefully now we can go on and win a few more games."
