Scowy Expects Wright to Stay

James Scowcroft has stated that he expects keeper Richard Wright to still be at Portman Road come the new season. The England U21 striker said: "I’m confident that Richard Wright will be with us next season. Everyone wants him to stay and I’m confident he can reach a compromise with the club." Scowcroft and Wright have both played for about the same length of time and were also comrades in reserve, youth and England U21 football so he obviously knows Wright well. Earlier Town manager George Burley had said that he had spoken to Wright and said that a decision would be reached sooner rather than later: "I spoke to Richard again on Friday. We had a really good chat. He has said that that he will be back to me within the next few days." Wright's agect Jonathan Barnett has been touting Wright whilst the keeper has been away with England with Celtic reportedly interested. Other clubs linked lately include everal Italian sides, Newcastle and Barcelona.
