Town Appoint Head of Operations
Wednesday, 5th Oct 2022 19:14

Town have appointed a new head of operations, Rich Carpenter, who previously worked the Commonwealth Games and before that Liverpool, Aston Villa and West Brom.

The position was advertised over the summer as being “responsible for developing and overseeing various departments at the stadium and other existing and potentially future sites”.

Carpenter was venue manager at Edgbaston for the T20 cricket matches which took place during this summer’s Commonwealth Games.

Prior to that, between February 2017 and January 2022, he spent five years as training ground facilities manager at Liverpool.

That was preceded by a three-year stint as head of facility operations at Aston Villa and before that just over two years at West Bromwich Albion as facilities manager.

Before that, Carpenter spent more than nine years as operations duty manager at Loughborough University.

Great experience, but it doesn't really explain what he'd be in charge of improving/implementing

It is a mark of our ambition, the fact he has taken the job suggests our ambitions are realistic.
We are a Premiership Club, within 3 years we will be there.

Potentially future sites - he will be investigating Carrow Road's trophy cabinet as a storage space for our lesser cups and shields. I understand it is a vacant site with potential...

Sounds good. But would love to know what exactly he's going to do. Not a grumble, but looking forward to hearing more about the role.

Read the title and thought we were employing an in-house surgeon.
With all the various injuries, that might actually make sense.

I would say after FM, this is his next step up the career ladder.

Clearly knows his way around the cogs that makes a football club tick. Suspect his appt is to free up Mark Ashton from the daily admin burden across a wide spectrum of below the radar functions. Giving more time for higher level management and future strategy etc. Only so many hours in the day, Sensible appointment to strengthen.
