Charvet Trains With Town Friday, 20th Dec 2002 12:54 Former Manchester City, Chelsea and Newcastle defender Laurent Charvet will train with Town next week as a possible solution to the current defensive injury crisis. The 29-year-old Frenchman had his contract with City ended by mutual consent in October. Royle, who has been looking for defensive cover due to a number of knocks, says: "He's going to train down here next week. I bought him at Manchester City but things haven't worked out for him there." Charvet has been training with Monaco of late but is a free agent. Prior to joining City for £1 million in October 2000 he was with Newcastle where he spent two years. He had a short loan spell with Chelsea in 1998 while a Cannes player before his £520,000 switch to Tyneside.
