George Burley has moved swiftly to quash newspaper reports claiming Town interest in Andre Rubens, described as the Latvian Ryan Giggs. He also said he had no interest in former Town trialist Russell Latapy of Hibs and reiterated his disinterest in Sheffield United's Marcus Bent.

Mickey Stockwell looks likely to sign for Colchester United today. The former Town stalwart, however, is awaiting a call from Nationwide Division One club Norwich City before committing to Steve Whitton's club. Stockwell has been training at Layer Road and even played in a friendly last week with Chesham, scoring Colchester's third.

Town's friendly at Brisbane Road with Orient on Wednesday has been reduced to £5 entry.

Town's pre-season injury is looking a little better with Martijn Reuser recovered from his slight strain and John McGreal recovering from his foot injury. James Scowcroft will be receiving intensive treatment over the next few days on his thigh injury.
