Town top scorer Pablo Couñago says he wants to remain with the Blues despite likely interest in him after his 19-goal season at Portman Road.

The Spaniard, who was voted Town Players' Player of the Year and the Blues' Most Improved Player, says he wants to be scoring the goals which get the side promoted next May: "I'm very happy here at Ipswich. We came very close to making the play-offs and I feel we will do even better next year and I want to stay here and be part of that.

"We played very well in the second part of the season and we need to continue that and make sure we have a good start to next season. I'm confident that we will be challenging next year and I want to be scoring even more goals for Ipswich."

The former Celta Vigo man will want to add at least one to his goals total next week at Derby to take him to 20 for the season. He will also want to confirm his position as top scorer for the season with Darren Bent, winner of the Dale Roberts Academy Player of the Year Award, not far behind on 17.

Skipper Matt Holland has reiterated that his departure in the summer is by no means a certainty: "Nothing has been settled and as far as I know the situation remains undecided.

"I'm aware of the financial situation but that still doesn't mean clubs will come in for me or that I will leave.

"I have three years left on my contract and I'm happy to honour that, whether that means being in the Nationwide or otherwise.

"The reception on Saturday was fantastic. It was very emotional, especially after a defeat like that."

One player who is very likely to still be at Portman Road is Jermaine Wright, targeted by boo boys during many of the latter games this season. Town boss Joe Royle has called for an end to this treatment: "Jermaine was not our worst player by far against Wimbledon and I was a bit disappointed with the reaction of some of our supporters to him.

"We all have opinions about players and it is not unusual for managers to see things in players others don't. He is very much part of my plans and we will not be giving him a free transfer."

Andy Marshall and Marcus Bent have also received similar treatment from sections of the Town support this season.
