It has emerged that Suffolk Constabulary objections have prevented Town's August 30th home clash with West Ham being moved to 5.35pm for live Sky coverage.

Blues' press manager Terry Baxter told the club site: "The match would have kicked-off at 5.35pm but that presented safety issues.

"The police were happy for the game to kick-off at lunchtime on the Saturday but Sky are already covering the Merseyside derby at that time.

"They were also positive about a Sunday lunchtime kick-off but that did not fit into the Sky schedule so the game will not be shown live."

Town have had two home Saturday evening kick-offs in recent years, neither of whch have been easy for the police. After Manchester United's visit in 2002, Portsmouth were in town towards the end of the season, a game marred by damage to the Drum and Monkey pub.

Town have no live Sky games between now and Christmas. Ironically the proposed Town-West Ham game has been replaced in the schedules by Norwich's trip to Nottingham Forest.
