Second Bid Turned Down
Second Bid Turned Down

Town have turned down a second bid for Danish defender Thomas Gaardsøe from West Bromwich Albion, although there is an expectation the Baggies could come back with a third.

Blues' boss Joe Royle says that the second offer was still not enough to tempt Town to sell one of their more popular players: "West Brom did come back with a little bit more but it is still nowhere near enough. They still retain an interest in Thomas but he is not someone we want to lose."

An earlier bid, reckoned to be at around the £400,000 mark, was rejected in the middle of last week.

Gaardsøe himself says he is not in a hurry to move: "I'm very happy at Ipswich. I have two years left on my contract and have no desire to leave. If the club were to accept an offer then I would look at it then, but so far I have not thought about leaving at all.

"I will have a chat with the manager as soon as I can to clarify things but all I'm focusing on at the moment is getting fit and getting back in the Ipswich team."

The defender injured his ankle in the pre-season game at Southend but could be fit enough to be involved in the home match with Reading on August 9th.
