Mahon Injury Not Serious
Mahon Injury Not Serious

On-loan winger Alan Mahon has had a scan which has shown his thigh injury to be a minor problem. However, the Blackburn player is unlikely to be involved for the Blues against Watford on Saturday.

Mahon picked up the problem in the 2-1 loss at Notts County on Tuesday. The Irishman is relieved that it isn't too serious: "Thankfully the scan showed there is no tear or anything but I can still feel it.

"It usually takes about 50 hours for the swelling to go down and the bruising to ease so I will see the physio and take it from there.

"I'm hoping I will be OK because I'm desperate to play. I'm really enjoying my football here and I came to play first-team games not sit around injured."

Darren Bent is back in training today and may well be fit for the trip to Vicarage Road while Joe Royle has revealed it is a loan striker he is targeting.

The Town boss was hoping to hear back from the player's club yesterday but is now expecting confirmation one way or the other today. He has a specific international player in mind but if that doesn't work out then he'll look elsewhere.
