Town left-back Matt Richards is the latest Blues' player being linked with Sir Bobby Robson's Newcastle United. Richards, 18, was linked with Premiership moves in the summer when Southampton seemed particularly keen.

Town say that no bid has been received for the youngster who recently has been replacing the injured Chris Makin in the Town first team.

The academy product is highly-rated with a lot expected of him in the future, but if he were to move to the Premiership it is likely he would iniitially spend a lot of time in a reserves side.

Richards, along with Darren Bent and Dean Bowditch, is one of the players the club is most keen to hold on to, their value likely to increase as they gain first team experience.
