Dutch midfielder Nabil Abidallah is off to Ross County for a short trial prior to a potential loan spell with the Scottish Division One club.

In principle the two clubs have agreed to the loan but the former Ajax player is unable to make the switch until the transfer window opens in January.

County boss Alex Smith said: "He is coming up for a couple of days. It is part of the relationship between the two clubs."

Smith was recently at Town with several other members of his staff looking at the Blues' highly-rated academy. County are building their youth set-up based on the Town model.

Abidallah's Portman Road contract is up at the end of the season and he will hope that any time with County may win him a permanent deal.
