Ipswich Town First, the recently formed Town Supporters' Trust, has written to Crystal Palace complaining at the chaos which greeted Blues' supporters when they arrived at Selhurst Park prior to Town's 4-3 win over the Eagles on Tuesday.

Many Town fans were left outside the ground until well after kick-off due to lengthy queues and few open turnstiles while inside stewards were telling supporters to disregard their seat numbers and sit anywhere.

Palace appeared to have expected a only a few Town supporters to turn up and by the middle of the first half seemed to have allowed more fans inside the Arthur Wait Stand than there were seats. Fans stood throughout the game.

A Trust letter to Eagles' chairman Simon Jordan reads: "Problems arose because of the decision of the Crystal Palace stewards operating at the game to decide that the reserved seats Ipswich supporters had purchased were to be disregarded and fans be allowed to sit anywhere they liked.

"This caused serious confusion and the entry/exit points and the aisles quickly became blocked as for the hundreds of supporters entering the stadium late because only four turnstiles were open could not find any seats. Chaos resulted.

"The stewards appeared poorly trained and unable to react to unfolding events, one steward (#207) in particular just stood there and could offer no assistance to supporters pleading for help.

"Finally some police, after a telephone call from an Ipswich supporter, arrived and a semblance of order was restored."

TWTD will publish any reply received while ITFC have been informed.
