Town manager Joe Royle has refuted a newspaper report earlier this week which claimed that he will retire at the end of his current Town contract. Royle stated when he came to Portman Road last year that the Blues would be his last club but he says he has put no time limit on his stay.

The 54-year-old told the club site: "I have been widely quoted as saying that I would like Ipswich to be my last job, and that is certainly the case.

"But at no stage have I suggested that I intend to retire at the end of my current contract.

"I will review that situation when the appropriate time comes, of course, but as things stand at the moment that is not my intention."
