Ex-Town midfielder Finidi George has revealed that his contract at Spanish club Real Mallorca sometimes means he is not paid for his efforts in La Liga.

George, whose contract with Town was settled in the summer, is employed on a play-to-be-paid basis by Mallorca who re-signed him in January.

Finidi joined the Blues from Mallorca in the summer of 2001 for £3.1 million but rarely lived up to his price-tag.

The former Nigerian international only gets paid if he plays 50 minutes of a game for Luis Aragones's side, an arrangement with which he seems OK: "The most important thing is to be happy working with the coach and I am staying because I knew what I was signing.

"It is all signed and if I don't play 50 minutes then I don't get paid.

"If I have to go on for 10 or 20 minutes, I still try and do the best I can; I still get paid win bonuses.

"I try and give everything for the team whatever the circumstances."

Last summer Town agreed to pay off the remaining two years of George's contract over an 18-month period, the Nigerian receiving around £1 million.
