John's Column has just been updated on the website, and you can see it here: http://www.twtd.co.uk/scales

For those who don't have access to the web, here are a couple of extracts:

John on the next England boss: "For Keegan's replacement I would love an Englishman. True, there are very few genuine candidates who are right for that job and I'd say that Venables is top of that list, despite all that's gone in the past. As a coach I don't think there is anyone better qualified to do the England job, it's how it would sit politically with the FA and how they view all the parts aside from coaching that make up Terry Venables. It's not for me to make that decision, thank God, but he is unrivalled as a coach and gets the utmost respect from players. I've enjoyed working with him very much and have got a lot of respect for his abilities."

John on West Ham: "Looking at West Ham tomorrow, I think it's who reacts to the break the best. They have had an indifferent time while we've done well, particularly at home. I think we must get right up to speed very quickly in the game and dictate the pace early on. I think the first 15-20 minutes of the game will be crucial tomorrow. West Ham have got some great, great players and they are a team capable of causing all sorts of problems. They are a little bit unpredictable because of the talent they have and that causes problems as you can't get set in a pattern of play quite so easily."

Much more on both topics are available on the site.
