Town manager Joe Royle says he expects Chris Makin to be playing away from Portman Road this season, although quite where, he is as yet unsure. TWTD reported on Thursday afternoon that the 31-year-old was close to signing for another club having missed training with the Blues.

Royle told the club site: "Chris wasn't at training today but he is within his rights to do that because he is out of contract and therefore a free agent.

"I have been trying to contact him but to no avail and until I speak to him, I don't know what he is doing or where he will be playing football next season.

"On the face of it at the moment though, it looks as if it won't be with us."

While Coca-Coca Championship sides like QPR have been linked with the former Oldham, Marseille and Sunderland player, we understand the club Makin is set to join is in the Premiership.
