Out-of-contract trio Fabian Wilnis, Richard Naylor and Jim Magilton have put pen to paper on new one-year deals. The three join Lewis Price in committing their future to the Blues, the keeper having already signed a two-year contract.

Wilnis told the club site that there was never any doubt that he would be staying: "I'm delighted to have signed a new contract for another year.

"This will be my sixth year at the club and hopefully I can play my part in helping Ipswich get back in the Premiership.

"It will be a big challenge but it's one we are all looking forward to taking on.

"I love this club and the delay over me signing was never a problem, it was just that I wanted to sit down with the boss and have a chat about a couple of things.

"I did that this morning and signed straightaway.

"I have said before that I would be happy to see out the rest of my career at Ipswich and while you never know what might happen in football, signing a new contract takes me a step closer to that."

All three have been offered reduced terms from the one-year deals they signed last summer.

Town boss Joe Royle will now be clear where he needs to strengthen hsi threadbare squad, with a new full-back and midfielder the priorities. A striker may also be targeted, particularly if Pablo Couñago moves on at some stage later in the summer.

With Town aiming at reducing the wage bill to £5 million and with no parachute payment this season, money is tight and Royle will again be looking at Bosman transfers and will utilise the loan system as he did last season.
