Town boss Joe Royle says he still hasn't heard from mystery man Chris Makin. The full-back turned down his new two-month deal with the Blues last week with another club thought to be about to sign him.

Since then there have been rumours of Bolton's interest and that the 31-year-old had been training with Leicester but no confirmed sightings or contact with the player or his agent.

Royle said: "We have heard nothing and don't expect to. If he were to get in touch we would take it from there."

That suggests the Royle may be willing to to consider taking Makin back should the former Oldham, Marseille and Sunderland man make a second about-turn of the summer.

Makin, who missed all but five games of last season due to a hip injury, initially appeared happy to accept an interim two-month deal which would rise to a year when he proved his fitness.

However, at the last minute he changed his mind and carried out his disappearing act.
