Town's payments to player agents during the period January to June of this year have been revealed as £37,125, the eighth highest outlay in Division One. The Football League today published details of clubs' agent spending for the first time.

The Blues' payments consisted of seven new player registrations or transfers, two updated contracts and two loans.

Top of the Division One (The Championship) table for agent payments were George Burley's Derby County spending £279,000. Second were West Ham on £245,500 with Wigan Athletic third, splashing £145,000.

Football League chairman Brian MaWhinney welcomed clubs' openess: “I am delighted that Football League clubs have taken the courageous step of opening to public scrutiny their dealings with football agents.

"It is a brave decision and one that further underlines the progress being made by The League in delivering new standards of transparency and good governance to the football industry. I hope it is a lead that others choose to follow.

“In releasing these figures we do not seek to pass judgement on the stewardship of individual clubs. It is simply our view that money being lost to the game through such payments should be a matter for public information and debate.”
