French trialist Nicolas Gousse moved quickly to find himself another club after being told he would not be offered a deal with the Blues yesterday.

After training with Town in the morning, the Guingamp striker hot-footed it to Wolves and was in action in their friendly against Mansfield at Field Mill.

Boss Dave Jones was impressed with his efforts:
"Nicolas raced over from Ipswich to take part in the game and we only met him in the dressing room shortly before the game.

"When he came on he put himself about and could have scored on two or three occasions. Hopefully, like Youl [Mawene], we will take a further look at him on Friday."

Town boss Joe Royle considered Gousse too similar to Darren Bent and Dean Bowditch. Royle has said on a number of occasions that he is looking for a striker who can hold the ball up.
