Striker Shefki Kuqi says he is keen to remain at Portman Road and fight for his place. Yesterday, the Kosovan-Finn turned down the chance to go on trial at Bundesliga side Hansa Rostock.

Kuqi said: "I would prefer to play in England and preferably with Ipswich Town.

"I'm happy here in Ipswich and it would have to be something a lot better for me to move on.

"Hansa wanted me to go over on trial but I said no to that. I have heard about a few clubs wanting me, which shows I must be doing something right.

"It is difficult for footballers to keep moving around, starting all over again with another club, another set of players and if you go abroad, a new culture."

Earlier in the summer the frontman turned down the chance to move to South Korean club the Daewoo Royals.

Sunderland are also being linked having shown interest in the striker last summer.
