Town boss Joe Royle was left fuming at his side's display after the Blues were defeated 2-0 by Doncaster Rovers in the Carling Cup.

Royle said: "It's very disappointing to go out at this stage of the competition.

"We dominated possession and our goalkeeper didn't really have a save to make, but we didn't create enough in front of goal either.

"Two or three of them didn't want to be there for whatever reason and it showed - we were chocolate warriors.

"The wind was swirling around, there was big, wide open spaces, a small crowd and one or two of our players thought it was a bit below them to be there, I think.

"It taught me a lesson about those players but we will be a lot better on Saturday against Plymouth.

"We got hold of the game more in the second half after Tommy Miller had come on but we never got back in the game and I don't think we deserved to."

Doncaster manager Dave Penney was particularly pleased with scorer Ricky Ravenhill: "Ricky came in to do a job on Jim Magilton to stop him playing but he ended up getting himself a goal.

"Jermaine [McSporran] has been a sub a few times and has been champing at the bit to get into the side and has struck an unstoppable shot into the back of the net.

"We hope to get a big team in the next round, particularly a home draw, as I don't think too many teams would like to come here when we're in this form."
