Reserves Lose to Gunners

Town's reserves lost 2-1 to Arsenal's second string at Barnet's Underhill on Thursday night, despite the Gunners being reduced to 10 men in the first half. Pablo Couñago scored the Town goal from the spot.

Arsenal went ahead in the 15th minute through young striker Quincy. The Dutchman, linked with a loan move to Portman Road in the summer, was a thorn in Town's collective side in last year's reserve game at Portman Road and put in a similar display.

Couñago was felled in the area on 24, Swiss U21 international defender Johann Djourou seeing red for the foul. The Spaniard sent Stuart Taylor the wrong way with his penalty.

The Gunners went ahead four minutes after the break when Stephen O'Donnell latched on to Town keeper Shane Supple's save from Quincy and volleyed home.

Daniel Flack had the ball in the net for the Blues towards the end but was adjudged offside, while Tony Dinning and Scott Mitchell both went close.

Arturo Lupoli and Quincy both weren't too far from adding to the home side's lead in the latter stages.

Reserves: Supple, Hogg, Barron, Mitchell, Sobers (Clarke), Collins, Flack, Dinning, Counago, Bowditch, Murray (Garvan).
